The tension in the penthouse was suffocating. Elena paced the living room while Dante stood by the windows like a statue of controlled violence. Two of his men had just brought Marcus in. He looked disheveled, eyes wide with fear and fury as he was forced to sit on the couch.
“Dante, please…” Elena whispered, standing close to her lover.
Dante didn’t look at her. His gaze was locked on Marcus like a predator sizing up prey. “You have two minutes to explain why you thought selling information about my woman to the Rossi family was a good idea.”
Marcus glared at Elena, his voice shaking with betrayal. “Your woman? She was *my wife*! For three years!” He turned to Elena, pain etched across his face. “I loved you. I gave you everything. And you left me for *this* monster?”
Elena’s eyes stung with tears. “Our marriage was over long before Dante, Marcus. You know that.”
Marcus laughed bitterly. “So you spread your legs for the first rich criminal who showed interest? I hope he’s worth it. Because the Rossi family isn’t going to stop. They told me they’ll make him bleed by taking what he values most.”
Dante moved so fast Elena barely registered it. In an instant, he had Marcus by the collar, lifting him off the couch with terrifying strength.
“You pathetic piece of s**t,” Dante snarled, voice ice-cold. “You had a treasure and neglected her. Now she’s mine. Touch her, speak to her, or go near her again, and I won’t just kill you — I’ll make you watch everything you care about burn first.”
Marcus gasped for air, terror finally replacing his anger. Dante released him roughly, letting him collapse back onto the couch.
Elena stepped forward, placing a gentle hand on Dante’s arm. “That’s enough.”
Dante’s body was still coiled with rage, but he stepped back for her. Elena looked at the man she had once promised forever to. The love was gone, replaced by pity and finality.
“I’m sorry for how this happened, Marcus. But it’s over. Sign the rest of the papers and move on with your life. Please.”
Marcus stared at her for a long moment, then nodded weakly. “You’ve made your choice. I hope you choke on it when his world destroys you.”
Dante’s men dragged Marcus out. The moment the door closed, Dante pulled Elena into his arms, kissing her with bruising intensity. The adrenaline and possessiveness poured out of him as he backed her against the wall.
“I need you,” he growled, hands already pushing up her dress. “Right now.”
Elena didn’t resist. She needed him too — needed to feel grounded in the middle of the chaos. Dante lifted her, wrapping her legs around his waist, and thrust into her in one powerful stroke. There was nothing gentle about it. He f****d her hard against the wall, each thrust deep and punishing, as if he could erase Marcus’s words with pure pleasure.
“Mine,” he repeated with every brutal snap of his hips. “Say it.”
“I’m yours,” Elena moaned, nails digging into his shoulders. “Only yours, Dante.”
He took her relentlessly until she came hard, crying out his name. Dante followed soon after, burying himself deep as he groaned her name like a vow.
Afterwards, he carried her to the bedroom and held her close, stroking her hair. The tenderness after such violence made Elena’s heart ache.
“I’m sorry you had to see that,” he murmured.
“I chose this,” she replied softly. “I chose you.”
But as they lay together, Dante’s phone kept buzzing with updates. The Rossi family was mobilizing. They had eyes on the penthouse. They knew Elena was the key to weakening Dante.
“We’re not safe here anymore,” Dante said finally, his voice dark. “Tomorrow we move to one of my secured estates outside the city. And Elena… I may have to do things you won’t like. Things to protect you.”
Elena swallowed hard but nodded. She had already crossed too many lines to turn back now.
The truth was out. The betrayal had been laid bare.
And the war for their love had officially begun.
