Serene's POV:

I was surrounded in the pirate captain's warm embrace, my hands running through its golden, messy waves. He had my face cradled in his rough hands, running the pads of his thumbs over my cheek bones. 

"So beautiful." He whispered before laying a soft kiss to my forehead. We were in the ocean, the warm current gently lapping at our exposed bodies. I looked down only now realising i was in Mermaid form. My silver tail on full display. The captain didn't seem to notice or care. The deep love that shone in his eyes stole my breath and I leaned my head on his chest and he kissed the top of my head. I closed my eyes, taking in the moment, his scent and the feel of being safely wrapped in his strong arms.

The water suddenly turned cold and I looked up to see the sun had been covered with angry black storm clouds. The ocean started to throw its weight, pulling us in opposite directions, as if trying to separate me from the captain. He looked down at me with panic and sadness in his eyes. 

"Im so sorry cielito. Please forgive me." I was holding onto him with all my strength as the ocean started to rip him from me.

 "No! Please fight and stay with me!" I yelled above the sound of the wild waves.

"Mi cielito, we can't fight this. Ya know it deep down." I could hardly make out what he was saying, as a huge wave crashes over top of us tearing him from my grasp. Everything went black.

I sat up in bed with a jolt, covered in sweat and gasping for breath. What an intense dream. Wow, even in my dreams the moody pirate captain can get my heart racing. What did it all mean? I can not stop thinking about the pirate captain that I am even dreaming of now. I know I need to get back to him, we were brought together for a reason. 

I looked around my room. It was still dark, with hints of moonlight glowing from behind the pale white curtains. The walls were painted a light blue and I had two photographs of the ocean framed hanging up. A gift from Lexi. As I had not arrived with anything, she had also given me some clothing to start off with until I received my first pay cheque, and she took me shopping. The room had come with a comfortable double bed, white linen and pillows, bedside cabinet and a set of draws. I didn't need much and what I had I was so grateful for.

I climbed out of bed and headed towards the kitchen for a drink of water. Taking my glass, I walked outside and onto the beach out the front. I looked out towards the water. The stars are still high in the sky. It would be about an hour until sunrise. I found myself walking towards the water, hearing whispers in my ears of words I could not make out.

 The water in front of me started to glow a bright turquoise, sending me into a trance. I no longer had control over my body.

My glass of water fell to the sand as I slowly walked towards the glowing current. I must touch it.

"Serene, Are you ok?" Lexi called from behind me. The glow vanished and with it, its control over me, snapping me out of my hase.

"I am ok Lex, I had a bad dream and needed some fresh air. Go back to bed."

" It will be morning soon and I have an early shift so I'll make you a cup of chamomile tea, that always helps settle my nerves." She turned and headed back inside as I followed. Thank goddess she interrupted whatever was going on with the water and I. Who knows what would have happened, but I can not help but be curious. 

I went inside and sat at the table as Lexi brought over a teapot and two cups. She poured my tea and set it infront of me.

I held the steaming cup, warming my hands. The aroma coming from it was already working magic in calming my nerves. 

"Tell me about your dream hun." She asked, taking a sip from her cup.

"I really do not know what to say. It was a good dream and then it was not. I was happy one minute and the next, I was fighting to hold onto something that felt very precious to me."

"Wow. what was it you were holding onto?"

"A man." I let out a breath, and I looked down at my drink before lifting it to my lips and taking a sip,  setting it down again,  "A man that looked at me with more love than I ever knew was possible." I looked up meeting Lexi's shocked expression.

"Oh. Now that is lush! Even to just dream of someone looking at me like that I would happily take! Who was it? do I know him."

"No, he is not from around here. I have only met him one time before. But I will see him again." I knew then that I needed to leave. Today. "Lexi, It is time for me to return to my family and handle some responsibilities that I left behind."

"What?! You're leaving? You've only been here a few months, I already adore you!" I Could see tears already welling in her eyes.

"I know, I am so sorry Lex. You have been the most wonderful friend to me. I will return one day, we will see each other again."

"You don't even have a phone Serene, how will I ever get in touch with you?" she asked.

"You know we don't have those things where I am from Lexi, but I assure you I will see you again."

Lexi stood and walked around the table to me. She pulled me up into a strong hug.

 "Thank you Serene, for your brief company in this place. But expect that we will be friends forever, I won't be forgetting you anytime soon so you better not forget about me."

"I would not ever dream of forgetting you Lex. Thank you." A tear escaped my eye and trailed down my cheek. "Will you do me a favour?" I asked as we pulled away.

"Of course, What do you need?"

"Can you tell Harry I will no longer be employed here? I would like to leave as soon as possible."

"Seriously? You are so lucky I love you. I wouldn't take a bullet like that for just anyone." We laughed, He will not be happy and will most definitely shoot the messenger. In this case Lexi.

I looked out the window and saw that the sun had started to rise. I stood to leave, "Wait, aren't you going to take your things?" Lexi asked.

"Leaving them here will give me a good excuse to come back" I smiled. Picking up the pirate captain's shirt that I had draped on the back of the chair, I turned and walked out the door, closing it behind me. When one door closes, another one opens.

It was so hard leaving my friend behind, I had every intention of seeing her again, but I didn't know what the future would hold. But I did know, I needed to find out and finding the captain was the first step in doing so. I was anxious to see him again. How could I miss someone I didn't even know? But the thought of seeing him again had me running down the beach towards the private cove. I would swim to where I had left the Black Soul and it's captain, and trace him from there. I could track almost anything within the water realm. 

I did need to remember to be careful not to cross paths with any other Merfolk. If anyone saw me with the Pirate Captain, I would be imprisoned and put to death for betraying my people. But I had to believe that my involvement with the pirate was more important than my life. 

There was also the possibility that the captain had figured out what I am, The fact that I escaped him so easily in the middle of the ocean would have been a dead give away. I guess we are about to find out. Stripping out of my clothes I ran over the rocks and dove into the water with the captain's shirt gripped tightly in my hand. 

Talian's POV:

I have been sitting, hiding in this stupid rock cave waiting for Serene for a while now. I had seen her arrive last night. I had tried to work out where she had come from but my tracking skills are not as great as I would like them to be. Being a royal, she is a faster swimmer than most and a fantastic tracker. However she doesn't seem to be aware that she is being followed.

There was a few times I had been sure she had known I was lurking, watching from a distance. When I had watched her pleasure herself the other day out on the rocks I couldn't look away. I couldn't believe she would do that right out in the open, and that she was so ok with giving herself pleasure but hardly let me touch her. I should be the one to make her moan, It should be me touching the jewel between her thighs. It made me so angry and so turned on at the same time. I was getting hard just thinking about it. When I got her back, I would claim her body. I would make her mine in every way possible. I know now that she enjoys s****l exploits, So I will give it to her and she will take it.

Watching her now run down the rocks naked like a crazy person, I got ready to follow her. She dove into the water with the precision of a heron. Cutting through the water with grace and speed. Her tail formed in a flash as though her body knew she was in a hurry. She darted off, out towards the outer islands. I made my way to follow, being cut off by a rather large hammerhead shark. Sharks usually didn't care about our kind, but she was baring her teeth at me, I could almost hear a growl coming from her throat. Do sharks growl? She was pushing me in the opposite direction from Serene. s**t! 

There was no way I would be able to catch up to her now.
