Chapter 8 - Aziel

1283 Words
I link my two closest friends. “Liam, Sean? I need you both right now! My room where it’s soundproof! I have a huge problem and we need to talk it through!” “Meet you up there in 5 Zee” they both link back. I walk over to my parents, I need to give them an excuse to disappear from them and without Darla. “Mum, Dad, I need to go ready the boys for the ceremony. I know you’ve already guessed, but I’m going to be naming Liam as my Beta and Sean as my Delta. I’m just going to go let them know of my choice and make sure they’re comfortable. I also just need 15 minutes to stop all this smiling and make some inappropriate comments with my mates”, I say. My mum and Darla both aren’t happy, I can tell just by glancing at them. This isn’t going to go well. Please don’t make a scene! To my surprise, as my mum and Darla are about to start complaining my dad steps in, “listen, before the ceremony you are the most nervous you will ever be in your life. Let him have a minute and a last chance to be irresponsible before the weight of the pack rests with him. With no women!” He says looking directly at Darla. Both women nod and my dad pats me on the shoulder. As I walk off he links me “I do hope whoever she is, you won’t reject her for Darla son. Remember, a weak alpha is just as much of a threat to a pack as the rogues who threaten it”. Crap! He knows, of course he does. “I’m trying to figure it out dad, I don’t want to reject her, but can we talk a little more about this once I’ve spoken to my friends. I’ll link you when I’m done and ask you to come up, okay? Leave mum for now and please do not bring Darla”. I link back as I’m walking upstairs. “Of course son” and with that he closed the link. I walk up the stairs to my bedroom and walk inside. Sean and Liam both stare at me, they’re clearly a bit nervous wondering what is so important I would drag them away from the party for it. “I’ve found my mate” I hear myself say, they both look at me. “Dude, you found her when we were about 10, this isn’t really breaking news Zee”, Sean replies. We stand in silence for about 30 seconds. Suddenly Liam opens his mouth, “Darla isn’t your mate is she?” I shake my head. “Crap! Who is it?” Liam asks. I look at them both. I’m worrying. How do I even tell them this? “Just tell them! It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Well, unless we consider your behaviour towards her”, Burton growls at me. I sigh and then finally say “It’s Aurelia”. Their mouths drop open! They’re both speechless for a couple of minutes. They look back and forwards between me and each other, they’re clearly linking something to each other. “Care to share?” I ask angrily. “What are you going to do? If you reject her you’ll be weak and basically half a person but the way we’ve treated her, the s**t we’ve put her through?!” I can hear the panic in Liam's voice. “I have no idea. I think maybe I should bring my dad in and get some extra help here, seeing as you 2 are also useless” I snap. “Dad?” I link him. “Could you come up please”. 2 minutes later my father arrives. I explain everything to him and he’s shocked to say the least, he remains quiet for about 5 minutes, clearly thinking it all over. Finally, he breaks the silence. “Okay so, firstly son, you can not reject her. Without even thinking about how weak it could make you, we need to think about your well-being. A rejection could send both of you into depression. It should always be a last resort and never a first choice. Now we have that out of the way. We have roughly 2 months until she turns 18 and realises who you are. It is your choice if you want to tell her before that, but I would suggest holding off just a little. That girl is petrified of the 3 of you and it’s going to take a lot to change that. However, it looks like she’s going to be the future Luna of this pack and the only choice we all have from here on out is to respect her and try to mend what we have broken. Aziel, it will be the easiest for you as she will be drawn to you, but for the rest of us it’s going to be a challenge. I suggest we start as soon as we can but without making it too obvious.” We all look at each other and it makes sense, we know it does. We all nod and formulate a plan on how we’ll all begin slowly, just stop the name-calling to start with and absolutely no more physical attacks! Then we’ll grow into more chit-chat and hopefully, by the time we’ve reached that level, the fear will be all but gone and we can then work on further bonding from there. We decide that right now we won’t tell my mother or Darla and we will just say that I know that Darla isn’t my mate. She’ll know that until I’m mated her scent will nauseate me, so she’ll understand that we need to keep some distance. This will help a little as she’s always been the worst to Aurelia. Darla also turns 18 in 2 days, so hopefully she’ll also find her mate then and it will be easier for her. Once she is mated or Aurelia turns 18 that’s when we’ll speak to my mum about this. It’s really not worth the fight at this moment and nothing can truly happen until I mate and mark her and for that she has to be 18 herself. We call my mum and Darla up via dad's link and when they arrive we sit them down. I look at Darla and I decide to just come out with it. She looks at me, she’s heart broken! “Does that mean I make you feel sick? Is that part true?” She asks. I nod, unsure of the right words. She runs out of the room, my mum looks at me pityingly and says “it’s okay my love, we’ll find your true mate. I’ll go and console Darla” and then she hugs me and leaves. The 4 of us left all look at each other, nod to confirm we all know the plan and then we leave. As I walk down I realise I didn’t get the chance to tell the lads that they’ll be my beta and delta. Oh well, guess it’s surprise time. I get to the bottom of the stairs and she’s there, carrying drinks and chatting away with people. She’s smiling. Oh goddess, she has the most beautiful smile. She moves her head to the side whilst laughing and I see her mark spot and Burton is almost screaming inside of me to take her and mark her now. “Not yet buddy, we have a lot to work through first”.
