"I claim nothing." I stepped closer. Close enough to see the lines around his eyes, the grey in his beard. "I'm telling you what happened. What the investigation proved, what my brothers discovered."
"Your brothers." Damon looked at Theron as his gaze swept over each of them. "Who benefit greatly from having a sister appear. Who gains alliances, who gains sympathy, who gains political leverage."
"We gain our family back." Theron's voice was ice cold. Each word is sharp. "That's all that matters."
"Does it?" Damon turned back to me, his breath smelled like mint."Tell me, Lady Beatrice. How does it feel to go from servant to princess overnight? To suddenly have wealth and power and influence?"
