I found Corin in the healing wing three days after Damon's visit. The air smelled like dried lavender and sage. It burned my nose in a good way.
He was organizing herbs and didn't look up when I entered. His hands moved steadily. Sorting bundles, tying them with twine. The scratch of fiber against fiber filled the quiet.
"I knew you'd come eventually," he said.
"How?" I closed the door behind me as the latch clicked softly.
"Because you always come to me when you have questions you're afraid to ask the others." He finally looked at me, his eyes were warm. "What do you want to know?"
I twisted my hands together but my fingers felt cold. "The marking ceremony. What's it like?"
His expression softened. Lines smoothed around his eyes. "Sit down."
