"Boss, I just saw the news. Why did you help her with your face exposed? What if people got to know?" With all the things being said by his guard, he didn't even bother to hear what he was saying as he got into the car.
"Hope you won't give me a heart attack; I am still young, and my future kids are waiting to come into this world." Darryl continues talking on and on without getting a single answer from his boss. The driver wonders how they both communicate when he doesn't make a sound when he talks to him.
"Boss, I wonder what your next step will be now that you finally..." He exhaled loudly, indicating he doesn't want to have this talk in the car. Darryl kept shut instantly so as not to get him mad.
Their driver always marvels at how Darryl gets to understand their boss with just a single movement.
Not long after, Darryl's phone buzzed, indicating he just got a message. Bringing out his phone, he smiled at the message he just received. He wanted to share it with his boss, but he discovered his boss doesn't want anyone else to know about their discussion.
"Boss," Darryl called just as he was about to go inside his room.
"I got a message in the car that the meeting would go on like you scheduled. Guess she was too embarrassed. She needed someone powerful to make her rich.... Woah! She is just like she's being described in the rumor."
He just nodded his head in disappointment and went inside his room.
He stood by the window, staring into the city. In his black tuxedos. He has always wanted her since a year ago; he thought so, and he doesn't get why he is disappointed now that she accepted. He should be happy she fell into his trap; he should be happy he could take his
retribution. So why is he disheartening? Why did he expect her to reject it?
"Gosh! What am I doing?"
"I don't care; she accepted the marriage. I shouldn't be concerned about her," he thought.
Smirking, his hands were in his pocket, still staring at the beautiful cities before him.
Zachary Lucas is the most eligible and richest bachelor in the city. He is just 25, and he owns almost every part of the city. Every girl wanted him, but being a mute made them stay far away from him. He had always stalked every one of Chloe's movements for almost a year, even though he is the CEO of different companies. He still gives himself the time to do that.
Now his hard work was about to pay off, and he is happy.
Chloe has been in her room still crying since the previous night.
Her family has been trying to make her come out of her room, but she just yelled at them as they knocked on her door. Saying they should get away from her door.
Knock, knock
"Chloe, it's almost time for the meeting; we can cancel if you don't want to." Chloe heard Marion say from the other side.
"Why care? I will get married to him, and recall this is the only thing Dad asked from me," Chloe cried out.
"I am sorry, I was just frustrated; that was what I said. You know I care for you, right?" Marion said again, hoping it would help in calming her down.
"I don't care for you, and I also don't want your care. So f**k off. If you are scared I won't come, never mind about it; I would be there... Not like there is anything more important to do with my life."
Marion felt bad; he knew how hard it is for her to take this decision. She is so much in love with her boyfriend. He knows everything. They were both in university when she began making every girl's life who went close to him a living hell. He would report her sometimes to
their dad, she would get mad at him and also play tricks on him.
While sometimes he compensates the girls, he did this part secretly so she doesn't know about it. When he saw how obsessed she was with him and also depressed when Aiden won't accept her. He
threatened to date his sister. He also promised him some part of his dad's properties if he got married to her.
He felt satisfied to see her happy, but he never showed her that he once cared for her.
Seeing her this sad is breaking his heart, though she might be bitchy and all, and he knows she has the heart of gold.
"Can I get you something to eat?" he asked again.
"I ate already; f*****g get out of my door," she yelled again.
"We will be waiting for you then." He walked downstairs to where his dad was sitting, looking sad.
Chloe stood up from the ground; her eyes went dizzy, but she managed to stand on her feet. She went into the bathroom and washed.
"Marion, it's almost time. Why isn't she down yet? Do you think she
wou..."
"Dad, she will be coming downstairs soon." He assured his dad as he sat close to him.
"Marion..."
"Yes, Dad," Marion answered.
"I just got some other news from that son of a b***h," John growled out as he threw his phone on the couch furiously. Marion stared at his dad curiously, waiting for the news he was about to break to him. He could see that his dad's mood wasn't a good one.
"He wants them to get married today; we are to meet in court."
"What! How dare he? Does he f*****g know she has her life well planned out before this unfortunate circumstance? He should f*****g give her some time to digest all this," Marion hollered.
"Maybe we should call it off; I can't let..."
"Call it off and make our life miserable? It's okay, I will get married to him anytime he wants. It's not like I have a happy life to live," Chloe said, walking out.
Marion and John were speechless with Chlie's new behavior. They quickly ran after her to see she was already inside the car waiting for them.
They also got in, and then the driver drove out of their mansion.
Getting to the court, they met Zachary and a lawyer already there waiting for them.
"Good day," John greeted and stretched his hands to greet Zach. But Zach just ignited him and showed him what was written on his tab.
"You are late."
"We are sorry, there was a bit of traffic, and besides, this wasn't our agreement," John let out.
Zach showed him his tab again with an irritated look. "I am helping you so I can do anything I want. It's your choice if you are not interested."
"If my sister is not interested, then we will call it..."
"I never say any s**t about not being interested; stop playing the supporting card. Where do you want me to sign to get us married?" Chloe asked as he walked closer to Zach.
Zach smirked seeing this. "She is just like she has been described." He thought to himself.
"I already signed the contract; it remains with you guys to do so." He showed her his tab.
Chloe took the pen from the table and signed it without even reading a thing from it.
"Chloe, we should at least read those things before..."
"I am the one getting married to him, so why are you troubled?" Chloe asked, annoyed.
Marion kept shut, while John signed the contract also with a heavy heart. The lawyer stamped it and gave each of them a copy of the contract.
When he was done, he bowed to Zach and left, while Zach turned to them. He made a whistling sound, and Darryl came in
"Good day to everyone. Well, since everything is done now, my boss would give you a chance to spend today with her, so she can go home with you guys today... Her things should be ready, please, the one which seems to be important. First thing tomorrow morning a car will come to pick her up. Thank you."
With this, Zach and Darryl left the families alone to themselves.
