She was shocked. She did not expect to see the man again and worst he was inside their house.
How did he know their place? that was immediately the question that went through her mind. She stared at him. He wears walking shorts and a white shirt, it looks like it is a home away from home.
"Where have you been, honey?" said the man who approached her and then kissed her on the lips. Perhaps in shock, she was unable to speak and protest. Her chest throbbed loudly and she felt a thorn buried there when she saw Ethan.
"It's been two weeks since you left San Francisco. I miss Arabella so I followed right away," he said while smiling and he seemed to see the excitement on his face.
"Bela where else did you and your daughter come from and did not go here immediately," her mother whispered. "Your husband and I are really worried."
Husband! It alerts her mind. Bela frowned when she turned to Ethan.
"What are you doing here?" she asked as if she had just dared to speak. "What is this all about? There is anger in her voice when she asked.
"We have to talk," said Ethan with a serious voice though and there was still a smile on his face.
"Talk?" She was shaken. "We have nothing more to talk about!" she protested slightly away from it as if she was burning with their closeness.
"Bela." Her father standing at the side of the door and staring at them.
"you better talk to your husband properly," he said seriously.
"Dad, he's not the ..."
"Let's talk," Ethan whispered before she could finish what she had to say. He grabbed her by the arm and guided her up to the second floor of the house.
"What are you!" she gasped angrily but the fingers holding her arm was firm and strong. On the terrace above the house, he took her, then let go of her arm.
"What are you really doing here?" she asked angrily. "I can't understand why my family says you are my husband!"
"Lower your voice, okay," he said looking at her.
"And who are you to command me?"
"Your husband."
"Excuse me, Mr. Miller," she replied calmly. "You're not my husband."
"But your family thought that I'm your husband," he replied with a smile on his face.
"I followed you here a few days after you left the house in San Francisco, I got your address from Attorney Jones," he said, referring to his father's lawyer.
"When I came here and introduced myself, they concluded that I" m your husband, I've got no chance to explain to them that I am not my father and we just have the same name, "he said sarcastically in his voice.
She was silent. She could not blame her family, because they did not know who she really married. She did not say that Jeff was old and that he was almost his father. She revealed to the family that Jeff was only a few years older than her and that he was a Fil-Am. That they were able to marry is because they love each other.
Lies that she fabricated.
"It's not my fault, Mrs. Miller ..."
Ethan continued. "If you had told your parents that you married the rich and old Jeff Miller. They probably wouldn't have thought I was your husband. All they knew was my father's name."
Bela avoided his gaze at her.
"And to my surprise, you didn't even let them know that you are now a widow ... a millionaire widow," the sarcasm in his voice was there again.
"What do you need?" she asked courageously, "why do you still need to follow us here?"
He did not speak. Just staring at her.
She took a deep breath as if drawing strength.
"If what you are chasing is what Jeff left us, everything is clear and legal." she looked at him. "I don't know about that decision by Jeff."
He smiled sarcastically. "Do you think I'm going to believe that?"
Anger rose in her chest.
"It's up to you what you want to believe. As far as I'm concerned my conscience is clear and whatever Jeff left us was his decision."
She saw his eyebrows rise slightly.
"How can you convince me that nothing happened ... that you have nothing to do with my father's decision ... seventy-five percent of my father's property belongs to you. I am his son and you know that ...." he said in a low voice ... "and I also know what kind of woman you are. I know you and the likes of you," he said angrily.
She felt her face warm at what the man had said.
Bela raised her hand and before she knew it she had slapped him hard.
She was shocked by what she did and because of that, she could not avoid it when Ethan pulled her and pressed a kiss to her lips.
She struggled but as he held her arm earlier she could not escape the man's arms. She feels her body succumbs.
There was warmth on the man's lips, especially his violent kiss became gentle enough to get her carried away.
"Isn't that enough proof that I already know you and others the same as you?" full of sarcasm Ethan said as their lips parted?
Bela could not speak or even look at him. She wants to oppose what he says but will he believe her.
"Don't bother my child," she only said.
Ethan did not speak.
"Please leave us alone ..." she said in a pleading voice.
'You want me to leave? Can you tell your parents the truth?" its voice seemed challenging.
She could not answer again what it said.
Ethan shrugged and seemed to have nothing before leaning on the tile.
"Are you going to tell them that you lied to them? That you married an old millionaire, so that you can use it while you are abroad and before he dies you make sure you are left with a millionaire,"
She was agitated.
"I didn't use Jeff," there was a protest in her voice.
"Are you telling me that you married my father for love?" he said while raising an eyebrow.
Bela was silent again. although she also loved her husband it was a love-friend or that feeling was only for a father. Because her heart remains tied to someone she loved dearly .... but that doesn't mean he used Jeff.
"Is it difficult to answer my question?" Ethan said when she didn't answer.
Courageously she focused her eyes on him.
"What do you think of your father?" In fact, it is easier to love him, than for people like ... "she did not finish what she was going to say.
He was silent.
She looked at the young man again.
"I have loved your father whether you believe it or not."
Still, Ethan kept silent.
But she saw his jaws wail. She took advantage of that opportunity.
"You can leave now. Don't disturb me and my child ..." She turned around then stopped and spoke again.
"I will tell my family the truth," Bela said, although she was not sure she could do it.
