Chapter 9

It was only after they shared their love that she was able to confess to Ethan her problem.   "Don't worry honey." he hugged her tightly. "I'm here, I will not leave you. You just stay here in my flat and I will make a way for you to stay here in America legally," he promised.   She couldn't stop crying. Fortunately, Ethan was there. Without it, she would probably not know what to do.   "I love you .." she whispered to him and Ethan just kissed her in return.   Bela has been in Ethan's flat for a few weeks now, she feels like they are newlyweds and she takes care of everything in the house. Even in Ethan's needs.   Marriage is the only thing that is needed for them to be called a couple. And she enjoys her condition. Even though she still has a problem staying in America she doesn't seem to care. What mattered to her during those times was that she was with Ethan.   Bela's life only revolved around Ethan at that time. She thought that the happiness she felt with the man would last for a long time. But it is not. There is an end to all that.   "Can I talk to Ethan?" said the voice on the other line and because of the accent she did not know if the woman was American or Filipina.   I'm sorry, but he's out," she replied formally.   "When is he coming back?" question again on the other line. Her voice seemed irritated.   "He'll be back later. May I know who's calling?"   This is Marianne, her fiancée, "the woman answered.   She was speechless. It was as if a cold liquid had crept into her veins and numb her brain.   "Tell him to drop by my place and bring the things that I've left in his baggage," she ordered. "By the way, who's this? Are you Ethan's secretary?"   "Y-yes," she seemed to swallow her tongue. When the phone hangs up she entered the room.   Ethan's luggage was in a corner when he left for Europe. She should have fixed it but Ethan stopped her. And told her not to touch it anymore.   Nervously she opened the baggage bag. Only a few clothes are there. Because the suitcase was so big she laid it down.   As soon as she picked up Ethan's clothes, she saw some pieces of the woman's clothes and there were pictures below.  A photograph by Ethan and his friends while in Europe but what caught her interest was the photograph of Ethan with a Filipina. The man was close to her and in all the pictures there it was noticeable that the two were always sided by side. Bela felt jealous, she couldn't stop the tears. She stared at the pictures for a while before he put them back in order.  When Ethan arrived she would ask about Marianne. If it is true that the woman is his fiancee. No! Her mind cried. That is not true. That Marianne just wanted to destroy their relationship. But why even if she said that to herself she was still hurt and she couldn’t stop the tears from falling. She thought of taking her belongings to her apartment. After all, Ethan already said that she moved her things to his flat.  But when she arrived at her apartment, it was closed. She waited for a moment, maybe the owner would come back immediately. After about an hour of waiting, she decided to come back again the other day.  Maybe Ethan is already at home. Bela frowned when she saw that the door of the flat was not closed. Maybe Ethan was already there and just forgot to close the door. She was about to enter when she heard that the man was not alone. It's talking to someone.  Bela peeked through the ajar door. Ethan is talking to a woman. She could not hear what was being said. There was jealousy that immediately enveloped her heart.  She remembered Nicole. It couldn't be the woman Ethan was talking to either. Bela took a deep breath and when she entered she was stunned. Ethan and the girl are kissing!  She felt her whole body stiffen and before she knew it her tears were already dripping. Bela did not know how she was able to leave that place. She just realized that she just kept walking and running until her body got tired and gradually everything went dark on her. He was feeling lonely and chaotic. Fortunately, the one who saw her was Jeff and it seemed like a joke of destiny that his son was none other than Ethan ... The man she loved so much. She wiped the tears that streamed down her cheeks. She shouldn't be crying anymore.  Ethan's past is over. Her feelings for him had been buried in oblivion. They meet again when Jeff dies. She had seen anger in his eyes, but nothing mattered after she was hurt.  She is no longer the former Bela he met and fell in love with him. The only thing that mattered to her was her daughter Arabella. She wouldn’t let Ethan mess up her daughter’s life.
