In a bustling city, Adam and Sarah lived in a small apartment with their two black cats, Raven and Shade. Adam was a ruthless businessman, always immersed in cutthroat deals, while Sarah worked from home as a graphic designer.
Despite their busy lives, Sarah had a soft spot for stray cats in their neighborhood, often leaving out food for them whenever she could, despite Adam's objections.
One night, Adam heard scratching at their door. It happened every night, making their cats nervous. He scoffed, dismissing it as mere city noise and paid no heed.
But one stormy night, Adam, annoyed by the relentless scratching, decided to investigate. He swung the door open to confront whatever was causing the disturbance, but saw only rain and darkness. An icy gust of wind slammed the door shut behind him.
Adam cursed and banged on the door, demanding Sarah let him back in. Through the frosted glass, he caught a glimpse of a shadowy figure outside, glaring back at him.
Hours passed, and Sarah finally found Adam, shivering and angry. He accused her of playing tricks on him, locking him out intentionally. Their argument grew heated, with Sarah insisting she had been asleep and knew nothing of what transpired.
The next morning, Adam was found dead in the hallway outside their apartment, his face contorted in fear. The police found no signs of foul play, but Sarah couldn't shake the feeling that Adam's death was connected to their nightly visitor.
Haunted by guilt and fear, Sarah moved out of the city, leaving behind the memories of Adam and their cats. Rumors spread among the neighbors about the shadowy figure that haunted their building, exacting vengeance for the cruelty shown to the stray cats of the city.
To this day, people whisper about the dark presence that lurks in the alleyways, waiting for those who dare to ignore the cries of the abandoned and mistreated.
