11 TILLYI opened the bag of dried meat and took a hesitant bite. While it looked like dried beef, it had a slightly purple hue that gave it a suspicious look. “It’s good,” Valla assured me. A savoury, salty taste exploded in my mouth and made my tongue tingle. It was strong but pleasant. Vaguely familiar. Not as juicy as I’d like but Terry would tolerate it. I tossed most of it in his enclosure, not trying to think about how small it was. When they were back in my care, I’d make sure they’d all have ample space. This was just awful.
