Double date gone wrong

1254 Words
Chapter6__ Luna I surely underestimated this guy. Was he trying to flatter me with his words? Does he think he’s Chris Hemsworth or something? I scoff at that. More like Chris hem not worth, I mentally roll my eyes at that. The audacity of kids these days is aging faster than we are. I snap out of my zone when I get a notification. The text says: “ Don’t forget about our date. " Another frustrated groan leaves my mouth. I should have simply said no to her last night, as simple as that. The day is not over yet, I feel like I have lived three of them in advance. I discovered this corner while I was wandering around. Many people might feel this place is dangerous, but I found this place strangely peaceful. Just when I thought I'd found my escape, there he was again, the weird guy. Usually I am excited about going home after work, but not today. You know how they say the only best part of work is leaving it and going home. That is me, that phrase is meant for me. I took extra time to reach home hoping Lia might have gone alone. I carefully entered the room on my tiptoe. As I was heading to my room, the light went on and there stood Lia already dressed up in one of her pink dresses and heels, longer than my to-do list. Right when she sees me, she links her arm around mine and drags me to her room without wasting any time. Fun fact about Lia, she is obsessed with shopping and enjoys clothes hunting. Now I am standing in front of her dressing mirror in nothing but a short black skirt and a red halter top that highlights my cleavage. I stare at my reflection, unsure if I like what I see. It’s not like I hate dressing up, but anything that shows too much skin makes me feel conscious. “Are we sure about this top”? I asked, placing my hand over my cleavage. “Obvi, you are 29, not 69. Besides, I will trade anything to have your body,” she gives my ass a playful smack. Lia and my body are almost the same. Well, she’s a bit skinnier than me and has longer legs that put mine to shame, but our clothes fit each other perfectly. So, that’s that. I wanted to wear flats but Lia was already in heels, so I decided to go with heels shorter than hers so that I wouldn’t look like a shadow next to her. We left the apartment and headed to the restaurant in a cab. The restaurant was in some downtown area which was giving me chills already. The staff lead us to the middle of the table when we mentioned the booking under Martin because apparently that’s the name of the guy that asked Lia out. Surely we see two men engaged in conversation and the moment they notice us, they stand and reach out to us. I got introduced to the guy, Martin, and his friend Thomas, who’s my date for today. The guy, Martin, looks somewhat okay and decent, but it’s his friend that’s giving me creepy vibes. 20 minutes in, and he’s making me feel uncomfortable already. Sometimes it’s his leg brushing past me or his stare that lingers a little too long on my cleavage. I lost my appetite at that. I tried having a conversation but every time I try he either leans a lot closer than needed or tries to brush his hand over my shoulders or knees. Right when I was about to put an end to this date, a woman stops at our table and eyes the man intensely sitting beside me. His face goes pale, and his postures go rigid when he sees that woman. At that moment I knew what was going on. That woman is his girlfriend and, to add it all up, she’s probably pregnant with his child. I tried to appear calm and neutral because what should I do in this situation? The woman is now screaming like a mad woman. I clench my fist at that, not out of anger, but because he is a cheater. Cheater. Why do I always end up crossing paths with cheaters? Lia rushes to my side, sensing my displeasure. At last, the woman throws her drink at him and storms off. I am this close to smacking this i***t who’s sitting beside me if he doesn’t leave now. Luckily, he too sprints off after her, screaming her name. I finally exhaled a long breath. I didn’t realize I had been holding. I facepalmed myself to calm my nerves down. Everyone was looking at our table like they had just watched the craziest show live. To be honest, I can’t blame them. Martin’s expression mirrored our own shock, but he finally apologized for all the trouble. The air in the restaurant was too tight, so Lia asked him to leave. He opened his mouth to say something, but leaves anyway. I feel sorry for him. After all, he put all this effort into asking her out, only for his friend to ruin it at the last moment. After getting out of the restaurant, we found a quiet park nearby and settled down, venting out all the anger and frustration of tonight. “I can’t believe that fu**** had a girlfriend yet agreed for a double date.” Lia seemed more frustrated than me, maybe because she partly feels to be blamed. “Talk about the audacity, he was not even that good-looking” I added feeling a lot better. “Should have stayed home like you suggested. Netflix and chill sound so therapeutic at this moment,” she faces palms, grabbing her hair like she wanted to rip it out of her scalp. “At least we got to know he has a girlfriend. Imagine finding out on a second date,” I fake gagged trying to lighten up the atmosphere. “ Yeah, you are right, let’s not think about it more." Her phone buzzed at the same time, but she didn’t bother checking. “ The night was still young. What do we do?" Even though I was not feeling it tonight, I didn’t want it to end like that. We were silent for a while. Lia looks like she’s lost in her thoughts when she all of a sudden brings out her and texts somebody. “Seriously, that’s the big idea you cooked up in your head?” She ignores me as like she didn’t hear me at all. I just want to go home at this point and sle… my thoughts get interrupted when she suddenly stands up. “Yes, that’s it, that’s the name,” she squeals, still looking at the screen. Finally, she looks at me feeling my murderous glare. She clears her throat and speaks:“Earlier today, my colleagues were planning on going to this new club that has just been opened today, but I passed because, you know,” she rolls her eyes at that. “How about we go there and have some time? Honestly, after this incident, I could really use a good drink to loosen up.” I have never been to clubs before but today feels like it’s a perfect time to change that. Matter of fact, I could even use a good drink to loosen up a bit.
