Chapter 51: The Price of Freedom
Aria’s POV
The memories of the fight with the rogues were still fresh in my memory when I woke up in a cold sweat. I was shaken by the thought of Darius lunging for the orb, the woodland exploding in pandemonium, and the weird, unnatural light. My heart felt heavier than ever, and my body hurt.
After the explosion, Killian had taken me back to safety. I had no physical wounds, according to the pack healer, but I couldn't get rid of the sensation that something basic had changed inside of me.
I kept thinking about the Moon Goddess's caution: Love is insufficient to rescue you. Making the incorrect decision will result in disaster.
I wasn't sure whether my mate connection with Darius was a good or a bad thing for the first time since my rebirth.
