PRESENT DAY.
As Elena walked back home to the Light-Fur residence only one thing was on her mind, how was she going to get an audience with Jared, it was impossible for a lowly Omega to be in the presence of the Lycan King much less an Omega with a treason record.
She hadn't realized when she had walked into the Light-Fur Courtyard until she was hit on the head by a flying object, with blood trickling down her forehead she looked around to see what little belongings she had lying around in the courtyard, another object hit her.
"Take your wretched belongings and get the hell out of my house! How could you do that to us after all we've done for you?" Mrs. Kate Light-Fur lifted another random object to throw at Elena when she was stopped by her daughter.
"Mum please it's enough you are hurting her" Karen pleaded.
"How could you still protect her after she tried to ruin your engagement? I specifically ordered her not to leave the house today but she disobeyed me" she turned to Elena "After your Father was executed we took you in, clothed you, fed you, gave you a place to stay and let you work for our family even though all our workers are commoners we still took in a lowly Omega like you, and how do you repay us? With evil" she threw a vase at Elena and it shattered on her body, Elena winced.
Kate smirked and continued "You must have thought he would pick you, I guess you still think you are a Lady of Honor, you need to come to your senses okay, that's all gone now" She laughed mockingly "You had better be gone will all your trash before I get back out, let's see how a traitor Omega will survive on her own" she said as she walked back into the house and shut the door.
Elena bent down and started picking her most important items of value, she would only take those and a few clothes since she had nowhere to go or to keep all her belongings which were many. She took her Grandmother's ruby ring which was a family heirloom, her brother's medals from the games he had won and her father's honorary badge, giving to him by the former Lycan King along with his title 23 years ago. Although every one hated him for killing the Lycan King's first heir she couldn't quite hate him completely for some unknown reason. Her eyes filled with tears.
"El, I'm sorry, I'm sure my mum doesn't actually mean what she said, this is still you home" Karen's voice startled Elena, she had forgotten she wasn't alone.
"Stop acting like you care, it's annoying" Elena rolled her eyes.
"I do care" Karen said defensively.
"Yeah you care so much that you got engaged to the only person I've ever loved who also happens to be my mate" Elena packed the rest of her important stuff aggressively without looking up at Karen.
"Get over yourself Elena, did you really think you two would end up together after your father murdered his brother?" Karen was getting irritated.
"If you thought it wasn't a big deal then why did you hide it from me so well, when I asked you to help me find out about Jared's whereabouts you told me that nobody had heard anything from him in years. And this morning when I asked you where you were going you said you were going to see a friend", she paused and took a deep breath then continued "If I hadn't heard the other servants talking about his Coronation I would still be in the dark by now".
She got up and slung her bag of belongings over her right shoulder "Maybe it's a good thing I was kicked out because I can't imagine living under the same roof with you after today, I'm really grateful for what you and your family have done for me all these years but our friendship is clearly over now. Goodbye Karen" with that she turned around and left the Light-Fur house.
She had lived there for a decade and was treated like a slave, a lowborn Omega by the people she had always seen as her second family back when her father was alive. She wasn't going to miss that place.

"So what are you going to do now? You can't just ignore her existence you know" Jared's right hand man Travis asked.
Jared ran his hands though his hair furiously "I thought she was dead? How is this happening now?" He looked to Travis "Isn't there a way I can just reject her and marry Karen? I need the support of the Light-Furs if I'm going to establish an untouchable Pack Union" He complained.
"There is no loophole when it comes to the Lycan King's mate, as long as she is alive you are forbidden from wedding another mate, a chosen mate" Travis took a deep breath "If you wed another then you risk being infertile and never having an heir, it just doesn't seem worth it to me" he finished.
"This is bullshit, I don't understand why exactly this curse exists, Iike what is the point anyway?" Jared got up and started pacing the room, this topic was really pissing him off and his inner wolf was getting agitated.
"It isn't a curse to be exact, it's more like a rule formulated to keep the Lycan Kings in check, since they were known to have multiple lovers during their reigns" Travis explained.
"Well then what do I do Travis, I need bloody ideas because I definitely am not about to marry the offspring of my brother's killer, the man that singlehandedly ruined the peace in my family " Jared was getting desperate for any solution at all.
Travis smirked "Well my friend, there isn't a loophole but there is always a solution you know".
Jared smiled broadly "What is it? Anything, just tell me and I'll do it" the determination in his tone was clear.
Travis walked up to Jared and looked him straight in the eyes "We have to kill her".
