Chapter Six
Meikah kept pace with Kellan, resisting the urge to regularly check those that followed them. That was after the first glance over her shoulder. The uncomfortable smile given to them by Hincke made her want to take cover and prepare to defend herself. She wanted to ask Kellan if they should have declined. Things weren’t working out exactly like they’d planned and she had a feeling that wasn’t good. Staying several days trapped behind the wall of the village wasn’t even close to what they’d expected. A few hours at the most and then they’d planned to get out of there so they could work on a way to rescue Maksim. Now she had no idea what they’d do instead. Could they stage a rescue from inside the village? Or would they be watched too closely to plan things out between them? And
