Kayeon could not sleep, as she rolled from side to side on her bed, sometimes just gazing up at the ceiling, lost in her thoughts, her ears picking the tiniest of sounds around and her eyes darting across the room from time to time, feeling like she was being watched and monitored by someone.
Her eyes came to rest on Ella's figure, on the other bed next to hers. Luckily for them both, they didn't have to share stuff and that included their bed. All they had to share was her room, a decision that didn't sit well with her, but could do nothing about.
She watched as she snored lightly in the dark, her breasts rising and falling as she breathed. Just then, a call came in. She looked at the name on the screen.
"Clara", she read out loud.
"Hello, Clara", She picked the phone and sat up.
"Hi, Kayeon." The other voice replied and went on immediately. "I need a 200k werewolf romance story to be written and delivered in the next fiveweeks. Would it be possible?" She asked hurriedly.
"Huh, I don't think that would be feasible. I have my hands full already.” Kayeon replied back. "I'm sorry," she added.
"Isn't there something that can be done? I don't want any other writer taking this job. Please". She implored.
Kayeon sighed tiredly. "I'd pay double". Clara chipped in. "Double.” She repeated.
"Just please, take the job." She begged.
"Alright". Kayeon said.
"You'll take it?" Clara asked unbelievably.
“Send me the details." Kayeon repeated calmly, and she could hear the thrill in Clara's voice on the other side.
"Thank you so much. So very much, Kayeon". She gushed out.
"I will send you the details after I end this call". Clara said.
"Alright. It's fine. Will be expecting your message.” Kayeon replied back.
"Yeah. Good night. Have a good night rest".
"Yeah. You too.” Kayeon replied and the call ended. She landed on her bed with her back and breathed heavily. She had a heavy workload at hand, all waiting to be started, continued or concluded, and this was another huge addition added to the already pending ones.
She stood up and strode to her reading table, took a seat on her chair and started working, typing at an incredible speed. She was going to bank on the thoughts again, but she quickly dismissed it and focused on the series she was currently working on.
Donnie woke up feeling crappy, but better. He patted his bedside table for his phone, and fumbled for the power button when he found it and turned it on.
"6:19am". It displayed when it eventually came up, with Kayeon's picture as his wallpaper.
He stared at the picture for a while. It was a picture he had taken of her on their last class hangout at the beach. She had on a white tank top and a short multi-coloured skirt on, and she looked absolutely stunning in the picture. He remembered how her short black hair looked pretty wild that day and the way her eyes darted towards him frequently, with her either winking at him, or just staring at him until he blushed, then the slow passionate kiss afterwards.
He sighed and went on to send her a short good morning message, before he got into the bath to prepare for school.
Kayeon had not slept since her client- Clara, had called to request for a book. She had finished two pending books. It now remained two more books before she started work on her newest addition.
She got out of her seat around 10am, her muscles were tense and needed stretches, and went on to get some coffee afterwards. She was never a fan of Coffee, not until she and Donnie started dating. Donnie was an obsessed coffee lover and loved his mum's coffee best.
He once made her taste out of a coffee he made when she visited him and that was how she fell in love too. He taught her how to make one too and since then, she made it a daily routine to prepare one for herself.
She got back into her seat at her writing desk and picked up her phone to check if Clara had sent her the story outline.
She liked and disliked being given an outline. She liked it cos' it made her work faster and easier sort of, and disliked it cos' she feels restricted by it, thereby not giving her the freedom to use her creativity, as she's always limited by the storyline in the outline given.
She found out Clara had sent it, and she went through it. Though quite conplicated, the storyline was a beautiful one, she couldn't wait to start working on it, and was suddenly eager to complete the ones she had at hand before.
Just as she was about to put her phone aside to set to work again, she caught sight of two messages, one from Donnie and the other fron Anita.
Anita was her childhood friend from school and they had both built a very strong relationship over the years.
She opened Donnie's message first.
"Good morning, love. Hope you had a good night rest. I'm sorry about yesterday too. I really didn't mean to annoy you. I was just worried and concerned about you being quite and all. I can't wait to see you in school today. I love you.”
She read quite fast the first time, and then re-read a second time, this time around, very slowly and let out a sigh in the end. She really needed to make it up to him. She was clearly at fault for whatever happened yesterday, but, here he was, choosing to take the blame.
She closed his message without replying and opened Anita's.
“Hey, babe. Where are you?" It read. She smiled and typed back quick. "I'm home, decided to stab school today".
Anita wasn't online, so she just dropped the mesagae, switched to plane mode and tossed her phone aside, picking up her next book project.
Ella woke up around 12pm when her friends arrived. Emma's call had woken her and she didn't bother picking cos' Emma's call automatically meant ‘ am at your door' or 'There's an emergency', cos' she hardly called and she knew it was the latter cos' they had all planned to meet at her aunt's house and hang out together.
She rolled out of her bed and muttered a good morning to Kayeon, who replied without turning back in her seat to look at her. She made her way through the door, and to the entrance.
Her friends were a crazy lot and their voices soon enveloped the house, as soon as they stepped right in.
She collapsed into the sofa as she was still feeling sleepy. She had not slept for about four days straight now, and it was telling on her. She really needed more sleep. Her eyes were closing up slowly when she felt a smack on her right thigh.
"You were sleeping already". Carlisle quickly said when Ella gave her a death glare. "Haven't you had enough?"she asked.
Ella had her normal look on back in seconds. She couldn't blame her for hitting her. She just wouldn't understand. They all wouldn't.
“I'd go change." She told them instead.
