Episode 3: The Six
The shattered windows of Cameroon's private library sent pieces of enchanted glass across the floor.
Abigail froze.
Cameroon immediately raised his hand, creating a glowing shield around them.
"Stay behind me."
Abigail frowned. "I can protect myself."
"I didn't say you couldn't."
Before she could respond, the library doors opened again.
Four boys rushed inside.
"Cameroon!"
Marcus King was the first to enter, looking unusually serious.
Behind him came Daniel Cross, Ethan Rivers, and Adrian Blackwood.
Marcus looked at the broken windows.
"Please tell me this isn't another one of your expensive disasters."
Cameroon glared at him.
"Not now, Marcus."
Marcus raised his hands. "Okay, okay."
Daniel examined the room carefully.
"Someone used shadow magic."
Ethan nodded. "And powerful shadow magic."
Abigail looked between them.
"These are your friends?"
Cameroon nodded.
"Unfortunately."
Marcus laughed.
"See? This is why we keep him humble."
Daniel pointed toward the shattered window.
"Something came through here."
Adrian walked silently toward the broken glass.
He picked up a small black feather.
His expression changed.
"That's impossible."
Cameroon noticed.
"What?"
Adrian held up the feather.
"The Night Ravens."
The room became silent.
Abigail looked confused.
"What's a Night Raven?"
Ethan answered quietly.
"An ancient magical order that disappeared years ago."
Marcus shook his head.
"Not disappeared. Destroyed."
Adrian looked at Abigail.
"Or so everyone thought."
Before Abigail could ask another question, someone knocked on the library door.
Everyone turned.
A young girl stood there holding several books against her chest.
She looked nervous.
"Abigail?"
Abigail recognized her from class.
"Lydia?"
Lydia smiled with relief.
"I've been looking everywhere for you."
She entered and immediately noticed the broken windows.
"What happened?"
Marcus pointed toward Abigail.
"Apparently, our new friend is more important than she looks."
Abigail sighed.
"I'm beginning to regret coming here."
Lydia laughed.
"Too late. You're stuck with me now."
For the first time since arriving at Moonlight Academy, Abigail smiled.
Cameroon watched them quietly.
Then the academy bell rang.
BOOOONG!
Every magical symbol in the room turned black.
The six friends looked at one another.
A voice echoed through the academy.
"The Moon's heir has been found."
The lights went out.
And this time, something whispered directly into Abigail's ear:
"Run."
She turned around.
Nobody was there.
But on the floor beneath her feet was a black feather.
Cameroon picked it up.
His face went pale.
"Everyone stay together."
Marcus looked at him.
"Why?"
Cameroon stared at the feather.
"Because the Night Ravens don't hunt alone."
From somewhere outside the library came the sound of wings.
Hundreds of wings.
The six friends looked toward the windows.
Dark figures were gathering above the academy.
And the attack had begun.
