Just Another Day...

1743 Words
It was a normal day like any other in the life of Miss Ana Kelly. She woke up at 5:30 smelling the coffee that coaxed her out of her bed with a smile like a seductive lover compelling her to get up. Although she hadn't had a lover longer than she'd care to admit. The fleeting thought left her head as soon as it had entered right when she took her first sip. Bella, her German Shepard, startled her when she heard her jump off of the bed from the spare room in the back on the 2 bedroom apartment that now belonged to her. Bella yawned, stretched and huffed loudly at Anna indicating it was time to take her outside to do her business. When she opened her balcony door to her ground-floor patio, she could feel the nice crisp and cool chill from the slight morning breeze and decided to grab a sweater and sit in her rocking chair, drinking her coffee while Bella was outside. Of course after a half hour of rocking and watching the sun creep over the hill behind her home all Bella wanted to do was lay in the grass and soak up the sun and cool breeze. She just shook her head and giggled to herself watching as the wind blew Bellas abnormally large ears in the wind. When she looked down at her phone and saw that the clock read 6:15 she new it was time to force Bella into the house, this was their morning routine. Always a fight to get her inside before she was late getting ready for work. As they walked inside she had to spin around and do a double take because she swore out of the corner of her eye she saw something or someone over by the other apartment complex just standing and staring in the yard, but when she looked back they were gone. She told herself it was nothing just her still being tired and her mind playing tricks on her. as she hurried to throw her cup in the sink and head off to the shower she couldn't shake the feeling that someone was there snd that she was being watched. Lately she had seemed so paranoid about everything it was really starting to bother her. thinking she'd seen someone watching her, swearing she left her keys or phone in one spot only to find them in a completely different area later or thinking she turned lights off before she left just to come home to them being on. At first she thought she was just being silly but she just couldn't shake this awful feeling. She was finally dressed and ready to go by 7 and was surprised she wasn't later than normal. She gave Bella her food for the morning, kissed her on the head and made sure she turned the lights off and coffee pot off before she headed out the door. As she turned to Bella she said "By Bells, I'll see you later and maybe bring you a treat after work." But unfortunately, that time would never come. That day she walked out of her front door would he the last time she saw her Bella again. As she was walking to her car, she knew for sure she noticed a man watching her this time but he was even closer now so she hurried to her car as fast as she could but, while she was trying to get her keys out of her purse she dropped them and had to find them under her car. Only she never got the chance, before she knew it she was grabbed from behind, a man grabbed her around her arms with one hand and wrapped his other hand around her mouth. When she went to scream nothing would come out and even if it did no one could hear her with his hand covering her mouth. in that moment she was terrified, frozen and didn't know how to register what was happening to her. then in an instant he whispered in her ear "It's so nice to hold you Ana." in the most sinister and malicious voice she had ever heard whispered in her ear. She tasted this terrible taste in her mouth and before she could figure out what it was she was out cold. Once she came to, she was in the back of an SUV. The windows were tinted and the locks and handles were gone. There was no way for her to escape. She woke up bound and gagged and could barely breath because she was crying so hard and also trying not to make a sound. maybe if he thought he killed her he would throw her out of the van and she could run away. No such luck. "Don't pull that with me, you think I'm stupid er sumthin?' he said to her with a growl." She shook her head no to indicate she most definitely did not want him to think she thought he was stupid at all. She would be as nice as possible and do whatever it took to ger herself out of this situation she was in. The one thing that kept bugging her was that he knew her name, but she couldn't for the life of her remember who is was, which was ironic considering knowing who he is was probably the one thing that would help keep her alive the longest. She went over every person in her mind that she knew or had met recently. Even small encounters that didn't seem like big deals to her could have been a big deal to him. But, nothing was coming to mind, which only made her panic more. the malicious tone of his voice and the black and dead-end look in his eye did nothing to help her calm down and did nothing to make her believe if she didn't remember him he would spare her. She just had to try harder, she must have known him from somewhere she just couldn't place his face for anything. They seemed to drive for what felt like 3 hours before he finally pulled over to get out of the SUV. "I will be right back, don't you dare move a muscle or make a sound or I will gut you where you're sitting. Don't think I won't." he said to her as he slammed his door shut. the tone of his voice and the seriousness of it made her believe him 100% that he would definitely gut her if he had the chance or if she slipped up even once. After about 5 minutes of him being going she got up the courage to peek out of the back window to see where she was. Maybe somehow she could signal someone or leave a clue as to what was happening to her. But, as soon as she glanced out the window her heart sank. They seemed to have pulled over in a deserted gas station in the middle of nowhere. There were no cars or people to be seen. There had to be someone right? They were at a gas station so there must have at least been one worker there she could get the attention of. If only for a minute. They could see the gag in her mouth and realize she was being help against her will. Unfortunately she was wrong. There was absolutely no one. No one to help her or save her, she was on her own and knew from that moment on that she was going to do anything to get out of this alive. Anything at all, even if it meant she would die trying. She had to come up with some kind of plan and quickly, she didn't know what and she didn't know how but she knew she had to come up with something, the reality set in like a ton of bricks, she was on her own, no help or anyone to signal, she was going to have to work up some nerve to devise a plan for herself and try and make it back to her Bella alive. That's all she kept repeating in her mind, "You have to make it back, Bella needs you, you're all she has. You have to make it back for her." It would be almost impossible but she didn't care. She had to try her hardest no matter what happened. for a brief moment she thought about trying to crawl into the backseat and hop out of the trunk and make a run for it but quickly realized that was impossible for a number of reasons 1. She had no idea where they were or even the slightest idea of what state they were even in anymore. 2. As far as she knew he could be walking back to the car any minute, spot her and just kill her right there on the spot and that was a chance she just wasn't willing to take. When the time was right she would devise a plan and make her move but for now all she could do was sit back and wait. Wait to see where he planned on taking her and wait to see what he planned on doing with her or to her. That thought shot an electric shock and shiver down her spine. She almost burst into tears at all the possibilities but she couldn't afford to break down right now, she needed to keep a clear head so she could focus on making a plan. Trying to take some deep breaths to calm herself down with a gag in her mouth was no easy task but she managed to get her emotions in check as best as she could without completely shutting down. A few moments later she heard the man's feet dragging across the gravel lot they were in and immediately laid her head down and closed her eyes. Maybe if he thought she was asleep or passed out again it would give her time to think and to focus without him glaring and growling at her. The mystery man opened the car door, slid into the driver's side and slammed his door. The loud slam made her jump a little and she was praying to any and every God she could think of that he hadn't noticed her body jump.
