"Come here," Verin motioned as he spoke. He had taken a seat on the edge of the bed. Jo had just come into the room, standing awkwardly. "What is making you hesitate?" She bit her lip. She felt weird about the reality of what Verin was to her. She didn't understand why, but she felt uncomfortable with him. Jo shrugged. She could tell he was hurting from the distance she was putting between them, but she didn't know how to relax into this. She didn't know him, and he was from a very different world than her. Verin watched her for a few moments. Sighing, he started to remove his shoes. "You can ask me anything you want." Jo studied him back.
