53 The next morning, Sara left for her usual run before Alexa woke up, leaving her to eat breakfast alone. She considered for a second how she would feel to be abandoned like that and decided that she wouldn’t care, so could safely assume that Alexa wouldn’t either. It was the earliest she’d been out since the first couple days in the community and the sun shone weak but bright, the kind of thin winter light that used to frustrate her as a child.
