41 The next day was similarly bright and airy. The last of the water in the cracks between the paving stones and the mud around the planters evaporated under the sun. It smelled and felt like spring, though it was far too early. Though when had that ever stopped spring in the past? Sara and Alexa went to breakfast together in the midmorning, then parted ways. Alexa said she was going to a yoga class, insisting it was calming and also a good way to pass an hour. Sara didn’t think she’d reached that point yet. She decided that today would be the day she set up her half of the room. When she arrived, Alexa had only been there a week and had already selected a bedspread and some tasteful decor.
