29 That evening a notification flashed across their vision. There would be a cocktail party to celebrate the end of another week, and everyone was encouraged to attend. Dress up! The invitation actually ended like that: Dress up! As if spoken in an excited whisper from a friend. Now that Alexa had put the high school analogy in her head, Sara couldn’t stop thinking about it, which only made her even more uncomfortable. Alexa showed her how to properly dismiss the notification with a brisk swiping gesture in the air, and a few minutes later the door buzzed with a set of simple black dresses for them to wear. No one was there; they wouldn’t send an actual person to make deliveries. The jobs available here were pretty mundane, but none quite so sporadic and boring as that, Sara thought.
