XXVI Adriano Baggio marched all through the night, breaking through enemy lines. He was leading forty men placed end to end. Each man proceeded, following the footsteps he had taken. The sky covered with clouds dense with rains favored them, letting the starlight pass in few places. His askaris followed him and he had bypassed the region of Gumscià and Mount Sanchil using an old abandoned defense line. Then he reached the plain, avoiding the Dongolaas Gorge, where the fight was taking place. The dense vegetation of thorny acacias and the fields of sorghum had protected his walk that, overnight, had become a fast race at a steady pace. In complete darkness he forded the river, exactly where it took the name of Bogù, and went on till he came in sight of the station Mai Adartè. Not far away
