Chapter 3 “Maria, I have never eaten so well in my life. What incomparable food your kitchen has produced.” Asdrubale is so enthusiastic about the dinner that he gets carried away with hyperbole. Perhaps he is also comparing it with the spartan food on board, which must have tried him so sorely in the last few days.
