Chapter 5
“You look lovely tonight. That dress is perfect with your eyes.” Maria crosses the room heading towards the kitchen.
“Thank you,” I answer before she disappears through the door.
In fact I have chosen my clothes carefully for the evening. Quite a simple dress with buttons down the front and I'm aware that the shades of green suit me. I took care in doing my hair too, drawn back into a plait on the nape of my neck but leaving two locks free at the sides.
When she reappears I ask her, “Is Orazio joining us for dinner tonight?”
“Of course. And I hope he'll be punctual tonight. I've invited Carlotta too.”
