If I thought waiting outside the door while Eleni changed was nerve-wracking, it was nothing—nothing—compared to the moment I finally walked her down the hallway toward Kol.
My palms were sweating.
My heartbeat was chaos.
Leiden wouldn’t shut up in my head.
"Stop worrying."
"Even if she is his mate, nothing will happen."
"We can help her increase her stamina."
“What if—”
"Shut up," I snapped internally.
I was already spiraling. I didn’t need my wolf helping.
Eleni walked beside me calmly, completely unaware that I was seconds away from passing out. She bumped her shoulder into mine, smirking.
“You’re tense.”
“I know,” I said.
She raised an eyebrow.
“Why?”
"I don't know."
She laughed softly but squeezed my hand.
We stopped right in front of the living room.
