Aleksi told me she didn't want to be Queen, but the Vilas didn't give her much of a choice. The moment her father's mate recognized her as the ruler, everyone knew she was meant to rule. Despite what Aleksi and I thought, Alondra was glad her sister was taking the throne.
"It's in your blood, Aleksi," Alondra had said. "You were always meant for this. That is why our father abandoned you; he knew you would surpass him."
Aleksi looked like she wanted to argue, but everyone else agreed she was the perfect fit to be Queen. Besides, apparently, there is a rule around the Vilas that if you defeat the previous ruler, you become the next in line. Kind of what happens when another werewolf challenges an Alpha.
