Chapter2

Chapter 2 I sigh heavily as I walk outside, the humid night air a small relief against my overheated skin. Why am I even going through with this wedding? What's the point? The question echoed in my mind, unanswered. I lean on a lamppost and tilt my spinning head against the cool metal. “that feels nice…” i mumble to myself, when suddenly the tingle erupt through my skin once again. I slowly open my eyes and look around, i hear shuffling behind me, my head snaps around and i nearly get sick because of the quick movement. “who’s there?” I yell. I look around, but see no one. “relax…” A voice says quietly in my ear. “who are you!” I say, still looking around frantically, “show yourself!” a silence follows and i start to grow more paranoid. I’m about to get married, is someone after me? The thought fills me with fear. Just as I’m about to make a run for it, the voice returns. “I told you, relax” He says calmly “I want to help you” "Help me?" I say, a bitter laugh escaping my lips. "I'm perfectly fine." "Are you?" he asks, his voice a low hum in my ear. "You feel… fractured. Like you're wearing a mask that's slowly suffocating you." “Yes! No! I don’t know,” I shout desperately. I have so many questions that come to mind, but i can barely focus my thoughts on anything right now. “What do you want from me?” I finally ask “straight to the point i see.” His low chuckle sends heat straight to my core, i bite my lip to resist groaning. “w-well what do you want?” My voice sounds weaker than before to me which leaves me stunned“come with me.” he says smoothly.“what do you mean?” i ask warily “exactly as i say. come with me. well either way you are whether you want to or not, mate.” “l-listen i dont know who you are but im getting married and what do you mean mate-” He hugs me from behind and smirks into my neck, his hoodie still covering him. “Shhh,” he whispers hotly as the world goes dark. I wake up, unsure of where I am, or even who I am. My head throbs and the ground feels gritty beneath me. I try to sit up, but the effort makes me dizzy and I lay back down again. It’s not until my eyes adjust to the dim room that I realize the grit is dirt and that I'm laying on a cave floor of some kind. Panic seized my chest. I couldn't breathe. Where am I? How did I get here? My heart hammered against my ribs, each beat a frantic drum. Then, slowly, the panic receded, replaced by a strange detachment. It was as if I were watching myself from a distance, observing my own fear with clinical interest. The feeling was unnatural, unsettling. “awwh look at her” i hear a voice say from across the room “she looks so confused.” I sit up again, slower this time, and see two people standing in front of me. I freeze when i feel the familiar tingles erupt across my skin. I bite my lip and the blonde man smirks as if he knows something i don’t. “w-where am i?” I look around to see the oddly modern cave. “your at your new home mate.”
