“Do you want me to tell you how much BB Company makes every year?” “You can tell that to your staffs, Mr. CEO! I’m not interested! It’s no point talking to you. I wonder how your business partners deal with you. It seems you don’t understand a word I’ve told you since we’ve met! The only money I’m concerned about is my monthly salary! I’m living a fulfilled life. I don’t need you or anything from you!” Although Jade was boiling inside, all he wanted was being able to convince Sapphire and end it all, but it seemed difficult. “Miss, you have the potential to inherit an immense fortune. Don’t you care about it?” He asked, persuasively. “If I’m really inheriting a vast fortune, I’m interested. But if I have to marry you to get that money, I’ll have to refuse. It’s not like I’m starving, or I don’t have good clothes to wear! I don’t really want to get married just to inherit someone’s fortune. Either did I want to get involved in any of these instead? So, talk it over with your grandfather nicely. And tell him I completely opposed to this.” She explained. As Jade observed Sapphire, she sighed. “So, you really mean it?” “Yes. I’ve really meant it from the very start.” She scoffed and carried her handbag. About to leave her phone. Sapphire remembered and quickly put it into her bag. Like a child expecting a hug from Santa Claus, Jade glanced at her vividly, but Sapphire rolled her eyes at him and left the restaurant. For the first time in his entire life, Jade felt like a tiny finger. He looked so inadequate. It’s been years since he’s been convincing various kinds of business executives that visit his hotel from different spares if the world, but this has been the most difficult so far. Eating lunch, Sapphire thought about how her day had been. “Scammers can do whatever and go to any length to get what they want. Even if he’s not a scammer, I don’t want to get myself involved with the rich! All they do is to use you for their own benefit and dump you like a piece of garbage! Such wicked beings!” A hateful hiss escaped her lips while she chewed on the piece of hamburger. An unexpected call entered. After two rings, she answered. “Hello mum!” “How are you, my dear? Are you prepared for tomorrow? He said it’s going to be the Blue Bird Hotel. I’m so excited for you, my dear. It’s going to be you and Damien tomorrow!” Sapphire heard her mum’s excited voice over the phone. She just rolled her eyes. “Yes mum. I know, and I’m fully prepared.” “Okay. I just wanted to wish you good luck. Also, wear something sexy and beautiful, okay?” Her feminine voice warned over the phone. “Okay mum.” She blushed and hung up. “Good for you, mum. You’re already married. And you have nothing to worry about. Unlike me.” Sapphire stared at her reflection in the mirror. She stopped for a moment and let out a deep sigh. “Tomorrow, here I come. And I’ll have to waste you by going to another marriage meeting with some stranger. How terrible my life is already?!” she hissed and carried a big toothed comb on the table. Gently, she brushed through her beautiful cocoa- brown hair, with the thought of how her visit with Damien would be. He’s the sixth guy she’s going on a date with in the last two months. Harry, Stanley, Gorge, Aidan, Carlos and now, Damien. The following morning, Jade walked to the table where a beautiful woman sat. She had a honey-brown, wavy hair and two pearl earrings on the lobe of her ears. “So sorry for keeping you waiting, mum.” Jade hissed her cheek as he took his seat. “Don’t worry, my dear. I just got here as well. I’m super excited to see my son.” She smiled with excitement glittering in her eyes. The both of them took lunch together and started discussing life issues too. “I heard your grandpa called you over.” She started. “How did he blackmail you this time?” Jade smiled, not wanting him mum to know about it. “Umm... It’s nothing, mum. It’s something I can handle.” However, Sapphire got to the venue. She wore a pink short skirt and a beautiful laced blouse to complement the outfit. She looked like a princess in it. Simple and elegant. Just then, Jade saw Sapphire as she walked in. His eyes lightened up as he saw her greeting the stranger. He had an average height but not that handsome. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Damien.” Sapphire greeted as they both shake hands. “Nice to meet you, Miss Sapphire. I’ve heard a lot about you.” Damien Chuckled. Although Damien had already been waiting for her a while but he seemed so friendly and lovable. He wore a cute smile as Sapphire took her seat right in front of him. Jade quickly stopped looking, so his mum won’t understand, but deep inside, he wasn’t feeling comfortable - seeing Sapphire with someone else. “Umm, what about your aunties in Paris? Are you hearing from them?” His mum asked. “Yes, I used to call them on weekends. They’re all doing fin-“ his eyes stole another look from the couple who were just getting to know each other. Immediately, Kate caught her son’s stare and crossed the dot to where he was looking at. “Do you know them? Are they your friends?” “Umm... Yes. Yes, mum. Somehow.” He replied to her, trying to concentrate on his lunch. Kate looked at them again. Damien and Sapphire were having a heart-to-heart conversation, and they had a bright smile on their faces. “It looks like it’s a marriage meeting.” Kate explained. “They look so cute together.” With her observation, a criticized look plastered on Jade’s face. He tried to smile, but it ended up as a scoff. “What about you? Won’t you ever get married? I’m tired of waiting for you to get married, my son. I can’t wait to be a grandma. As you can see, I’m not getting any older.” “I know I’d have to marry, mum but trust me, you’re still looking very young and pretty.” He replied to her with a smile. “You don’t have to worry about anything. I’ll get married when the time comes.” “I can’t wait to see you take over BB Company already. You are your grandpa’s eldest grandson, and you have to do what’s right at the right time.” Kate caught Jade staring at the couple in the distance. Sapphire’s cute laughter caught his attention. She laughed out loud, and it seemed she had a good time with the guy. “I know that already, mum. Perhaps, I don’t want to marry to possess his inheritance. I want to marry for love. And about BB Company, I’m going to inherit it if it’s truly meant to be mine.” he explained to her with a serious face. “No, you’re Stephen Alejandro’s grandson. You need to take over BB Company.” She corrected him. Making him see reasons why he must take over the company. “My father is the chairman of Solomon’s Solar Electric. Your grandpa and I would provide you with anything you need.” “Only if I’m destined to, mum.” He let a smile at her. “Umm... I’d have to go now.” She stood up and had her a perk on the other side of the cheeks. “Umm. Is there a problem, Jadee?” She stopped him. “Yes mum. There’s an enormous problem, but don’t worry, I’ll see you later.” He explained and left. “OMG! Jade must go through a lot!” Kate thought and grabbed her handbag. She left the hotel in her executive Highlander. Jade walked to where Sapphire sat. “My love! What are you doing here?” He announced with kin interest. His deep voice made Sapphire turn to him as she froze in his presence. “J... Jade!” she stammered. “What are you doing here with a stranger?” Jade asked, as if offended. “And what do you mean by that? It’s not as if we’re in a relationship or something!” She fired back, noticing the disappointed look on Damien’s face. “Why are you being so impossible to be with Sapphire? I guess your no, actually mean yes. Most girls are like that.” He attacked with a smirk on his face. “Who is this, Sapphire?” Damien asked, dumbfounded. “I’m Jade Alejandro, her boyfriend.” Jade introduced innocently with a handshake, but it pissed Damien to return the handshake. “Isn’t it cheating to be hanging out with other men, Sapphire? This is cheating for me, you know?” Jade hissed at her and sat beside them. “Cheating? What are you even talking about?!” Her teeth gritted at him in annoyance. “Stop pretending as if you don’t know me, darling.” Jade smiled. “Who’s your darling?!” Sapphire hissed. “We’ve talked about this a thousand times that I’m not interested in you!” “Exactly!” Jade agreed. “Let’s push back our wedding for now, like you suggested.” Hearing him talk about marriage, Sapphire wore a mugger face, trying to tell Damien not to mind Jade’s words. “Oh, mister. I’m so sorry you had to witness this already. When you date someone, tiny mistakes pile up, and you know, ladies... They easily get pissed off.” Jade tried to explain, but Damien grabbed his phone and car keys. “Umm... I’m so sorry, Sapphire. I’d like to take my leave.” He muttered. “No, it’s not like that!” Sapphire tried to hold him back. “I don’t even know this guy.” Sapphire rolled her eyes at Jade disgustingly. “What are you doing right now?!” “Getting back together with you, of course. Don’t you want to meet up with grandpa?” “Yes, I want to but-” Hearing Sapphire say this, Damien turned his back to Sapphire. “Come back Damien, please!” Sapphire begged. “Have a safe trip home!” Jade muttered excitedly as Damien walked away. Watching him walk away broke Sapphire’s heart into pieces. “Shall we start over, then? Good thing he hasn’t touched his food.” “Just shut up, Jade! How can you do this to me?! I hate you already!” She barked at him. Confused about what next to do.
