Chapter 15: Crazy Agreement

1959 Words
Sapphire dashed out of the hotel, fuming with anger, Jade stopped her. “Are you crazy?! Why would you say those things in front of a good respectable man?! We were just getting together, and you spoilt everything! You must be out of your bloody mind!” “No, I’m not. Like I said, I want to start over.” He made clear. “Are you stupid?! Start over what? When did we ever start anything?” Sapphire felt criticized. An involuntary whimper escaped her lips. “We can just start it now. Follow me.” Jade grabbed her hand into his and dragged her into the hotel. “Leave me alone! Jade!” Sapphire cried after him, but his stronger wrist wouldn’t free her. He took her back to where they were seated as they both sat down opposite each other. Sapphire’s eyes felt like hot cheese the way she looked at him. Just then, her phone rang, and it was her mother. “Are you stupid! Damien came all the way from Florida to meet you and you disappointed him?!” “No, mum, it’s not like-” she explained, but her mum cut her words. “Wait! Were you dating someone?! Why didn’t you bring him over sooner, then?” Sapphire took her gaze from Jade’s annoying face. She whispered not to disturb other guests that sat, turning weird glances at them. “I told you, mum. I don’t even know this guy. He is a random stranger.” “Well, that’s not true! This is the fifth time we’re meeting and you’re still calling me a random stranger?!” Jade blurted out, so that Sapphire’s mum could hear him. She gazed back at him with a disgusting look. Sure, Sapphire has a lot going on in her mind, but Jade replied her with a silly smile. “Well, um, the thing is... I just met a guy here, and he’s psycho!” “So do you love the psycho guy?” “No way, mum. Never.” “Is he dangerous?” “No mum, he’s not dangerous.” “I’m so worried about you, Fire! All I need from you is to get a good Agriculturist to settle down with and not some psycho guy!” “Okay mum, I’ve heard you but there’s nothing to worry about. I’ll go to another marriage meeting next week.”Sapphire concluded. Jade let out a frustrating sigh as he dropped the cup of coconut flavoured juice he was gently sipping. “Better!” Fiona heaved over the phone. “Are you happy now, mum?” “Yes, I’m thrilled. Let’s look forward to next week and if you like, bring another psycho guy to spoil the meeting.” “This won’t repeat, mum. I promise. Bye.” Sapphire whispered to her phone before ending the call. She slapped her phone on the take and glared at Jade with a heated face. “Think of an excuse that’ll make me forgive you!” She smirked at him. “I have no intention of doing that.” He replied her, politely. Like a gentleman that he isn’t. “Why do you have to date another man? You’re just 23 years old and you’re going to marriage meetings to find someone? Isn’t that kind of weird? I mean, why are you going through so much when you can just solve everything by going out with me?” He persuaded. “I don’t owe you an explanation, Jade. Because it’s weird and complicated.” “I will make it uncomplicated. And what’s so weird about it? Take me to meet your parents and let’s start something together. You are a woman and I need you. Sapphire.” The way he said her name sounded awkward because it was his first time of saying her name, politely. Or maybe it was his first time talking to her so politely. “Don’t people say you’re insanely stubborn?” She asked him. “Sometimes...” He blushed. “That’s not a compliment!” She hissed at him and sigh. It seems these were slowly driving her insane, too. She looked at him tiredly. “Fine, let’s give it a shot.” She concluded. Jade sat upright and adjusted his sitting posture before speaking. “Okay, fine. Let’s start over, for real. First, I want you to know that what my grandfather wants is for us to date for six months. This is the best way and the most ideal option we have.” “The thing is, in my option. It seems like this benefits you than anyone else. You’ll inherit his fortune just for dating me. I have to give up on getting stocks and a husband. And to make matter worse, I have to tolerate you for six months.” She stated. “Good Sapphire. You’re quite clever.” He praised. “I know, i***t, I’ve always been clever. You’re the foolish one here.” She smiled. “You said you had no interest in the fortune, though!” He hissed. Getting heated by what she just said to him. “And I’m not interested in a husband, either!” She clearly pointed out. “I don’t know what’s going on your mind right now but, a deal is supposed to be fair for both parties.” Tired of the arguments, the both of them rested their backs on the chair a bit. It’s been over a week since they’ve met and the both of them haven’t agreed on anything yet. Thinking about it, Jade sat upright again. “Well, you know. You will not lose out. If everything is settled after six months. I’d give you a sum equivalent to three years’ worth of dividends, in cash. It’ll be easier for you to date me than to get tangled up with stocks and director meetings. Oh... And you won’t have to go on marriage meetings to meet weird men, either.” “You want to hear the truth? I feel like this option is more complicated than the first one. If I get married, I don’t need to accept cash from you. And the people who get tangled up with me because of my shares, you’ll be nice to me. I’ll have tons of money, lots of shares and a husband, too. So, why should I choose the tough part instead of the simple part?” She paused in between her speech. “Oh, and... As for that man you saw earlier, he wasn’t a weird person, unlike you.” “Ugh!” Jade scoffed and then turned back to her. “Fine. I agree with whatever decision you’ve made. What do you want, then, b***h? Let me make this clear to you. I’m not marrying you, no matter what.” “Thanks dude. Same here. I feel exactly the same way.” “Firstly—” “Firstly? You have a multiple thing that you want me to do for you? Aren’t you greedy?” He quirked an eyebrow, confused. “First, call me Miss Sapphire Blac, or simply Sapphire. I’ve mentioned this several times that you shouldn’t ever call me b***h! Do I look like a b***h to you?!” she simpered sarcastically at him. “Damn it!” He cursed underneath. “f**k!” “And please, watch your language whenever you’re speaking to me.” Jade furrowed his eyes at her. ‘What am I now, her student?’ he hissed mentally and gave her a smug look. “Fine, then.” He huffed with an eagle eye pierced at her. “I’ll call you Sapphire. Or Miss Blac. Ma’am.” He replied in the tune of an obedient student. Then a call came in. “Negotiate with the Bank chairman before he leaves! If you miss this chance, I’ll sack you right away! And .. you better find a replacement! Go it?!” He angrily hung up and slapped his phone against the glass table. Sapphire took a stealthy look at him. A freaky, stealthy look. ‘It’s no use correcting Jade to call her by name. The guy is just a jerk! A freaking, arrogant jerk!’ she thought and stopped talking to him. Perhaps he’s a waste of time. “Sapphire, what do you want? Money? BB Company? Just name it. I’ll give you whatever. Or do you want something else? Tell me for us to negotiate.” “Can you give me anything I want?” She asked, seriously. “Well, it looks like you’re loaded. Just how much can you offer me?” Jade nodded as if he was noticing something. “Hmmm... It’s much easier to talk to you now that you’re being frank.” He muttered. “Well, tell me. What is it you want?” “A brand new technology system for my school’s library. There were a lot of budget cuts from the board of Education this year. And it’d be nice if you threw in a lot of delightful books to the school library. I need a nice indoor gym, so the kids can play in there on rainy days. A water system and also a nice school bus too. Oh, it would be great to have a big mirror in the multipurpose room, where I take students’ dancing classes. I’m an academic adviser for the school’s dance club, you see.” She narrated. “Jade scoffed at her. “Anything else?” “Can you get me the sun from the sky so we can make the science room brighter?” “That’ll be hard, since I think the BB Space Program hasn’t broken ground yet. “Anything else?” “Hey, excuse me. I was just joking. I didn’t mean... everything I just said now.” She teased, but Jade was serious about it. “Well, I’m not joking. Is that all you want?” “The school would take care of everything else, so sorry, need nothing. But can you help me get my Gabby a better management company?” Sapphire sincerely asked. “What? Your Gabby?” Jade looked at her vacantly. “Yes, Gabriel Anderson. He’s a fantastic singer and actor! He’s super cute and handsome! It’s just so unfortunate that he didn’t have enough help and help else. Gabby is very talented, and she has great potential. If you just help him a little, he’ll definitely become a star.” She continued. “His management company is kinda creepy. They’re forcing him to make musical videos that don’t even make sense. I mean, um, it’s pretty tyrannical. He’s stuck in a slave contract, so he can’t leave. It might take a lawsuit. I mean, how can they ask an upcoming star for 100, 000 dollars for breaking the contract? I trust your attorney knows how to handle cases like this, right?” “Is that really what you want?” Jade pressed. “Yes. That’s all. I mean it.” She muttered. “I’m not joking this time. This is more important to me than some crappy, capricious will. A young kid’s life depends on this. Please, do this for me.” She begged. “Okay, Sapphire. “What else? Is that all?” Jade asked. “Yes. If you do this for me, I can agree with anything you want. Minus getting married to you, though, just like you said.” “Okay. The contract is in place. Just don’t change your mind later.” He warned. “Fine. Let’s write up a contract.” Sapphire suggested. “What?” “Yes, I’ll write my own terms and conditions. We have to make rules and make an agreement.” Sapphire completed.
