“Goodbye now.” Sapphire turned eastward to take her leave.
“Miss!” Jade called back to her.
She turned and walked towards him. He handed her the mobile phone, which she has forgotten. Sapphire collected it from him immediately and muttered a thank-you.
“And why are you like this?” A slim line appeared on Jade’s forehead in a frown.
“What?” Sapphire jerked at him.
“I mean, why are you so forgetful? You leave things behind most times. Don’t tell me you’re crushing on me already?” he huffed.
“I’m not crushing on your mister! Stop imaging things!” Sapphire hissed.
“Isn’t it obvious that you want to get close to me?” He huffed. Whatever!"
Sapphire turned away without saying a word.
“Hey Miss! Where are you going? Why don’t I take you?” He asked. She took another way.
“Don’t worry Jade.” She replied to him politely. “I’ll just take a taxi.”
About to take another step, a car zoomed towards her while Jade pulled her closer. It firmly wrapped his arms around her back in protection. Sapphire was in shock. She wasn’t expecting to be so close like him as goose pimples crawled on her caramel, leathery skin.
As if she smelled like a rotten egg, Jade pushed her away from his body.
“I didn’t do that on purpose, so don’t start assuming anything.”he hissed.
“Wait, what! You hugged me just no--“
“Whatever! Get in. I’ll take you home.” He murmured.
“No, you go ahead. I’m fine. I can take the subway.” Sapphire concluded with a bright smile.
“Really? Okay then.”
“Bye!” She walked away as Jade opened his Jeep and hit the road.
Later that day, Sapphire was in her room. She had a pink Disney princess singlet on and white jean shorts. She sat at her reading table, ticking off important dates on her calendar.
“Oh no, I’ll have to eat with the King of devils, badass bossy CEO every Fridays now. Too bad.” Sapphire muttered and ticked off the Fridays on her calendar till the next six months.
A light smile appeared on her face as she wrote, Lunch With The Devil King on the calendar.
Thinking about it, something felt disturbing.
“Hope I haven’t made the worst decision of my life?” Sapphire asked herself. Wait, he’s not a pervert, right? Hope I haven’t agreed to sign a contract with a womanizer. He sure looks like a player to me. What have I done?" She asked herself, as she gazed back at the large photograph of Gabriel Anderson pasted on the wall.
He looked so cute in his black leather jacket and all.
“Ugh!” Sapphire sigh heavily. “Well, I’ll just give dating him a trial. As long as the issue with Gabbie’s agency is flowing, I’ve got no problem.”
“Does that hotel need an advertisement? I wish they could do a commercial with my Gabbie. It’s be nice if it would feature him in it. I can’t wait to see my Gabby rich, famous and successful!” She jerked with so much happiness playing in her eyes.
Just then, Sapphire scrolled through the list of dating contract she’d written. “I’m not sure if you can really trust that guy. I left nothing out, right?” Sapphire asked herself, unsure if she did the right thing by accepting the contract or not.
Jade submitted the dating contract to Lucas as he went through the piece.
“That lady is wise in deed. Lucas praised. And who’s Gabriel Anderson?”
“Someone Sapphire admires so much.” Her crush.
“Crush?!” Lucas simpered sarcastically.
“So, what do you want me to do exactly? Why are you here, dude?”
“I want you to help me work on this Gabby guy and keep this contract confidential. Again, I need a favor from you.”
“Favour? What do you want now, Jade?” Lucas frowned.
Jade moved closer, staring at the attorney’s eyes intensely.
“Don’t make the copy of the last page.”
“What?! You’re so impossible, Jade!” Lucas cried. You want me to leave the most important information out?! Ace is also a potential marriage candidate!"
Jade started at Lucas, in agreement. Pleading with his steady eyes like that of a lady.
“Ugh!” Lucas sighed once more with a bent neck on his table. You know you’re asking me, a lawyer, to do something illegal right now, right?
“Yes, I know, just do it for me. Take it off. I don’t want to drag Sapphire with anyone, especially Ace. I’m not a good guy, just as she said. Not only that, but I don’t want Ace to find out about Sapphire and I don’t want Sapphire to find out about Ace, either. This is between me and you. Our secret is confidential, get it?”
Lucas kept quiet, unable to give a reply.
“I’m going to end all this on my terms.” Jade concluded.
“Okay then. If that’s what you want.” Lucas replied to him, studying the mysterious look written all over Jade’s face.
The following morning, Sapphire went to school and saw two new white coaster buses parked in the school’s parking lot, which usually used to be empty. It felt as if she was dreaming.
“None of these is try, right?” Sapphire whispered softly in amazement.
The school bell rang, and the students ran into various of their classrooms. On her way into the class, she saw a couple of men bringing in extra boxes. It took some to the school library while they took others into the computer room. They arranged about 50 new PCs in the computer room and they stocked the library with new books on different topics and countries.
“Where are these from?” Sapphire asked one man.
“BB Company has sent them for charity.” The man replied to her as he continued fixing everything.
Astonished, Sapphire closed her eyes and went into the dance room. She couldn’t believe Jade could do all of this. She opened her eyes forcefully as she saw the full, wall-sized mirror on the other side of the room. Sapphire cupped her mouth in between the tears and happiness that rushed inside her.
“OMG! What have I done? How did I meet Jade Alejandro?!”
