*** After School Hours They dressed sapphire in a simple peach gown, barely reaching her knees. She wore a while sneakers with the outfit and she packed her rough, red hair in a high ponytail. Immediately the taxi stopped, she rushed to glance at her reflection on in side of the glassy building. “Maybe I should have stopped by a salon, a spa or something!” She cried, adjusting her hair that looked so rough. “Oh, whatever! It’s not as if I need to doll myself up to look good for him.” She hissed and wiped off the beads of sweat hanging on her forehead. She cleaned her face with a hanky before walking in. Rushing to where Jade is as seated. Sapphire tried to calm her down her nerves as she greeted, “Good afternoon, sir.” Jade stood up to meet her. “I’m r... really sorry. I’m a b... a bit late.” She shivered at the words and swallowed. Glancing through his wist watch, Jade spoke as calm as possible. “You’re only two minutes late. You’re not late. Come on, have a seat.” He offered. Sapphire walked to the seat with him. She can’t believe he’s acting so free and comfortable around her, and she’s the weird one. “Umm... Well, thanks a bunch for everything. You did everything I asked for. Wow! They must really load you to have done all of that overnight.” She explained. “You don’t need to thank me, Miss. I was just keeping my end of the deal. So, make sure you do yours.” He smiled. “Aww! If I’d known that you’re good at keeping promises, I’d have asked for more. I’m sure these would be over pretty soon so, I’ll just forget about it.” “Well, today’s the first day so, ask me whatever you want. What should we do? Is there anything you want to try or... Somewhere you want us to go?” “I don’t know. What do you want to do?” “If you have nothing particular in mind, let’s go watch a documentary production.” Jade suggested. “A D… Documentary production?” She stammered trying to understand what it means. “Yes. It’s part of the cultural festival that our hotel is sponsoring. I have to check on it today so...why don’t we go together?” “How about we just have lunch instead?” Sapphire begged. “Right now?” Jade asked. “Yes! I’m hungry!” “Let’s just have a meal in my hotel. There’s a decent Chinese restaurant on the 9th floor. We can try something new. What do you think?” “No. Their food is just too expensive. That hotel’s dinner menu isn’t worth the price.” Sapphire explained. Jade wore a disturbing look. “Are you insulting my hotel’s food? What’s not good about their menu? Tell me, what part of it displeases you so much? Is it the food or the service?” “Of course, the food and service are perfect! What I mean is, it costs 500 dollars per plate and I think that’s too expensive. I’m not ready to waste any more time through the coursed-out meal so, why don’t we go somewhere else? Why don’t they serve à la carte dishes during dinner service?” “Do they not offer any à la carte options at all?” “Right, for dinner anyway.” “Oh! Let’s eat dogs’ breast!” “Dog’s breast?” Jade quirked an eyebrow at Sapphire’s suggestion. “Yes! You’ll definitely love it!” She jerked happily, exposing part of her teeth. “Come on, let’s go.” Jade muttered as they walked out of the hotel. Sapphire took him down the streets to a hotel where they served dog’s breast. It’s usually spiced up with fresh fruits and vegetables, which leaves a memorable experience in the minds of the buyer. Sapphire and Jade quickly took their seats as a slim, dark server served them. “Oh my! They pre-cooked the meat for us!” Sapphire cried. “Aren’t they supposed to? What’s your problem now, young lady?” Jade raised an eyebrow at her. “I don’t like this restaurant! I wonder why you choose here of all places!” Sapphire hissed as she complained. “I mean... You can’t even smell the meat cooking. Dog’s breast tastes better when you grill it yourself.” “I can’t get my clothes smelly." Jade muttered, and he sliced a dice with the cutlery and gave it a good chew. Sapphire had to add more sauce and roll it into a leaf of cabbage before she can eat it. Seeing her eat like this made Jade chuckle. ‘Isn’t she just so impossible?’ He asked himself as they ate. “Ummm... About Gabriel Anderson’s case. One of our attorney is currently working with his agency.” Jade retorted. “Yeah. I know that already. Thanks a lot.” Sapphire smiled appreciatively. “Uh? You know already?” “Yes, why not?” Sapphire muttered. “That’s the most important item on that contract.” “The attorney just started his work yesterday, and you already found out about it? Are you that close to him?” “I’m the president of Sparkle Drama Club and Gabby’s fan club. Of course, I would know. Gabriel is my little darling. My loml, the love of my life.” She explained. “Isn’t that supposed to be between lovers? I mean... Isn’t he just a teenager?” “No, if you love and cherish someone so much, you can call them “loml,” regardless of age." She hissed. “Does that mean that I’m the love of your life, too?” Jade asked and munched a piece of the dog’s meat lovingly. Sapphire wore an awkward stare at him. ‘Isn’t he unbelievable?’ She asked herself. Wondering if he was feeling jealous just now. Even though he doesn’t like the dogs’ breast, he ate it wholeheartedly. Later That Evening... Their car arrived in the Cinema. A flashy black Toyota Camry. Acting like a gentleman for once in his life, Jade opened the door for Sapphire. “Do I really need to go in there?” She asked. Her voice shivered as if she would cry. “Why? Is anything wrong?” “Well, I hate documentaries! I don’t watch document at all except movies and music videos! It’s going to be so boring, and I know lots of famous people are going to be there. Plus, look at how ugly I’m dressed. I didn’t even make my hair!” “Well, it’s not so bad that you’ll be a complete embarrassment, but can we go in, please?” “It seems you don’t understand. I said I don’t like documentaries. It sounds like further mathematics to me. I’ve been through a lot today, going to school, then meeting you... I hope you get?” Jade placed his hands beside her and started into her delicate eyes, that were already looking tired. His closeness towards Sapphire made her focus her doe-like pupils on his. “I actually hate dog breast and anything related to dogs. I ate what you wanted to eat with no complaint so, isn’t it fair if you watch documentaries with me without complaining too?” He clarified. “I’m really worried about what would happen tonight. I feel so wrong already.” She murmured, frightfully. “You may be worried about what would happen tonight, but I’m worried about the coming six months, miss. C’mon, follow me.” He unbuckled her seatbelt and forcefully pulled her out of the car.
