Chapter 50: He Is Pissed

1179 Words
Mrs Fiona was doing the dishes while Sapphire took a piece of fried chicken lap her mum brought for her from home. It was from her dad's big poultry farm. Eating the piece made her miss home but her parents torture made her leave because they were always on her neck. As the only child, it feels as if all they think of her is her future. Everything should be well planned. While enjoying the chicken, Jade's call came in. Sapphire looked nervously at her mother who was concentrated on the dishes. She quickly walked to her room to receive the call. "Why are you calling me?" She whispered as silent as possible. "How are you going to make up for the fact that you broke your promise to me?" "My mum came unexpected and I can't go anywhere right now. Don't worry, I'll let you choose two things that you want to do next time." She whispered a little louder. "Well, as if I have a choice. So your mum's around. What did she say?" "What else? She freaked out when she heard you're rich." "Why did she freak out when she heard that I'm rich?!" Jade blurted out. "Isn't that what most parents wants. Its not like being rich is a crime or a sin! She should be proud." "Being around tons of money could be troublesome, you know. My parents who too aren't rich or too poor." She explained. A scoff escaped from his mouth as he walked upstairs into his room. Jade was at home. He came to have a shower and rest for a while. "And what do you think?" "What's there to think about? When will I ever meet another rich guy again, after we break up?" Sapphire pointed out. "Fire!" Fiona called, turning towards the bedroom. "Yeah..." she replied her mum's call. "Bye, see you later." Sapphire whispered to the phone and ended the call. She abruptly threw her phone to the bed and went to help her mum with the cooking. "Hello?" Jade muttered. Just then, he noticed that she had ended the call. "She always hang up first. Yet, she'd never been the one to call me first." Thinking about what she said, especially the last words made him moody. 'When will I ever meet another rich guy again, after we break up?' "So she's thinking about breaking up already, huh?" He leered before entering his room. After lunch, Sapphire and her mum were arranging some new clothes and bedspread she'd brought for her from home. "Bring that guy over." Fiona instructed her daughter. "Huh?" "You heard me. Bring that guy over!" "But.. mum!" "Don't mum me, Sapphire. I have to see him for myself for me to feel at ease. Call him, we need to met before I leave." "I told you, it's just business!" Sapphire murmured, convincingly. "If you get tangled up in this, it'll really seem like we're actually dating. Is that what you want?" "No, but.." "Then trust me on this. Just trust your daughter, mummy. Everything would soon be over, okay? We only have two months left, together. There's no need to blow this out of proportion." Sapphire positively, muttered. "Two months. Just. Two. Months. Are you sure it would be over by then?" Fiona asked, staring into her daughter's eyes. Thinking about it brought double thoughts to Sapphire's mind but she replied with an assuring look as she nodded her head, positively. Her mum let out a deep breath of satisfaction as she placed all the arranged clothes in her wardrobe. Sapphire looked moody not knowing if she would be able to end it all within two months but definitely, she'd have to find a way. Minutes Later... Mrs. Fiona Blac grabbed her hand bag as her daughter accompanied her out. It was just a short visit, after all. In features, Sapphire is the exact carbon copy of her mother. Same tiny height, red-brown, shoulder length hair and crystal blue eyes. Sapphire stopped a taxi as Fiona gave her daughter one last hug before leaving. It was a soft, heartfelt cuddle. That lasted for a moment. "Take care of yourself, my love." A smile brightened Mrs. Fiona's face. "Be careful on your was back home, mum. And extend my greetings to dad, too." Sapphire rubbed her mother's arm, tenderly before she got into the passenger seat. Sapphire happily waved at her as the black car zoomed away. An heavy sigh escaped from Sapphire as she finally turned back to her apartment which was just a distant away from where her mum took off. Getting back home, Sapphire met Jade stilling beside her doorstep. "Oh, Jade!" She turned to him in Surprise and walked towards where he was sitting. "How long have you been here? I mean... What brings you hear? We're you planning to meet someone else?" She tugged her hair at the back of her ears as she walked to him. "I came to say hello to your mum. And I felt like I had to be the one to do all the explaining, too." Jade explained. "Stop saying such dangerous things, Mr. Jade Alejandro." Sapphire folded her arms as she sarcastically explained. "She won't even believe me that this is strictly business so my mum would pass out if you showed up suddenly to say hello to her! She would think we're actually seeing each other and I don't want that." He raised an eyebrow. "So this is business?" Sapphire moved closer to him and smiled at Jade's confused face. It is, though. She tugged her hair by the side of her ears as she went to take a seat closer to Jade. "I made it clear to my mum that we're not getting married." A tight frown appeared on Jade's face as he listened. "My mum said we'd definitely get a divorce within two months if we did." She explained further and chuckled. "There's no such thing as divorce in my dictionary, okay?" Well of course. Sapphire replied him. Looking at him, Jade frowned at her as if she'd cheated him in something. What's up with that look?" But are you planning on getting married, though? Are you ready for marriage?" He asked her, sincerely. A bead of sweat dropped from her forehead due to the question he just asked. "Well, it's not like you're going to marry me, anyway." She scoffed and observed the environment. Both of them were facing opposite directions, as an awkward silence reigned between them for a bit. Sapphire stood up as if she wanted to enter her room. "Aren't you going to leave?" "You're not going to repay me for yesterday? We should have coffee. Or probably take a walk around the neighborhood, at least." "Sure, let's go." She replied him. With an annoying stare, Jade stood up from the bench. He made a weird face at Sapphire and scoffed a little before walking away. Sapphire couldn't help but to wonder why he was pissed but she followed him. Luckily, he didn't meet her mother.
