He took her to the garden outside the eatery to seat and talk. The environment was quite cool and colourful. There were wooden benches under a thatched hut like corridor. The both of them sat there, facing each other like two angry chickens, ready for a fight. “What’s next, dude! I need to go home!” She spat and gazed at the screen of her wristwatch. Tiny birds sang their evening anthems as the sun settled in the evening sky. Sapphire huffed out at him, uncomfortable. “Like seriously, I’m going to call the cops if you don’t stop stalking me like this!” she warned. “I feel we need a heart-to-heart talk, b***h!” He retorted. “I told you I have nothing to say to you!” She fired. Some guests walking out of the eatery turned to look at her awkwardly. Sapphire wore an apologetic face and looked away. Her eyes focused on Jade like an angry vulture. Things were already getting out of control for her. She hated everything about Jade especially the embarrassment. Jade took out his phone and typed his name on the search engine — Google. He handed it to her immediately, and she collected his phone to read. “What’s this?” She hissed one more time, but Jade didn’t pay her any attention. Peeling off her eyes to the screen of this phone, she read. Jade Alejandro — Business Executive, CEO of BB Hotel. On Google. Looking at the surprised look on Sapphire’s face, Jade put on a satisfying smile. “Now, do you believe me?” “W...what, what?” Sapphire stammered in shock. “You’ve seen enough!” Jade collected his phone and placed it on the table. “You... You really look alike.” She said. “Are you blind to see that I’m the same person?” After a while.... “So you’re saying that chairman left me his fortune, but I have to marry you to get it?” “Yeah.” Jade replied her. “I mean... Yes.” “I don’t really like this condition.” She huffed. “Do you know how much our the company’s shares cost right now? The dividends you’d get per year that you’re apparently not interested in are more than what you’d make on your salary in the next ten years, b***h!” “Sapphire.” She corrected. “It’s Sapphire. You’ve been calling me b***h! Or i***t all these while, but that doesn’t mean I’m stupid. It's either you call me Sapphire or Miss Blac or better still, don’t talk to me at all.” “b***h! i***t! Whatever! It’s all a way of referring to you. As long as I’m speaking with you, and you understand me... The rest is a story. Look here, I don’t have enough time to spend with you either. I just want to make myself clear so we can move forward.” “That’s your business.” she hissed. “I’m wondering which one of us is the crazy one here.” He whirred. “There’s so much money for you at stake here, but you don’t care?” “Look here.” Sapphire Blurted “Ummm...what’s your name again?” She asked, confused. “CEO Jade Alejandro.” “Yes, CEO! But since you’re not so wise, I’ll just call you Jade!” Sapphire sneered while she continued. “It’s not as if I’m homeless or starving. I have a respectable job, and I’m so satisfied with my life. Just so you know, this nuisance of an inheritance means nothing to me, so why would I need to get married just to have it? And to you, of all people?” “Because if you don’t marry me, you’re going to lose a lot of money, Sapphire, and it’ll really get annoying. Don’t you love money? Don’t you want to become rich?” “And what sort of question is that?” “What I’m trying to explain is that you’ll get incredible power at BB Company as long as you just marry someone. You’ll earn fame, power and respect. Everything you’ve always wanted and dreamed of at your disposal. If you marry me, tons of people will try to seize the chance and swim over like bees just to be around you! It would be fine to choose someone among the crowd if you want to, but the chairman has chosen me for you!” “Wow! That doesn’t sound bad. But you know, you definitely won’t be the one I’ll choose to marry. Plus, I don’t marry for money. Your grandfather is sure strong-willed. It will take more than wealth to cover up your nasty temper, you know? That is why he’s going out of his way like this to hook you up with somebody. By adding you into the deal as a gift.” With this, Jade's jaws slacked, startled. He couldn’t believe she just called him that. An Hour Later... “A cup of coffee please, with ice.” Lucas ordered. “Don’t forget to put some ice in it, okay?” “Okay, sir.” A lady’s voice sounded over the phone. Jade was waking back and forth in his office like the hands of a wall clock, unsettled. He couldn’t believe all his efforts in getting Sapphire into signing the contract went to no avail. ‘Like seriously, no girl in her right mind would reject him, his business or his money. Only this two horned b***h!’ he roared mentally as his face looked so denounced. Lucas turned to his friend with curiosity. “Hey dude, stop stomping around like this! It’s driving me crazy! Were things that bad for you? Is she too much to handle?” “I’m so f*****g speechless right now, I don’t even know what to do or say! She’s literally pouring fuel into my fire. She’s so arrogant and proud, I’m lost for words to describe her. In fact, she’s a real pro at pissing people off!” He concluded with a heavy breath. Lucas couldn’t help but to blush. He’d seen Jade pissed, but not like today. “Is she that bad?” Lucas laughed out curtly. “Sapphire, or whatever she’s called. That girl is really cunning, sly and super brazen!” “So, she’s smart, clever and fearless?” Lucas suggested. “Whatever!” Jade hissed as a lady walked in with the cold coffee. Lucas sizzled a laugh as he watched his friend gulp down the last drop of the drink. “Do you know what that wily fox said to me?” “What did she say?” Lucas focused on Jade. “She called me a gift.” Lucas couldn’t hold his laughter anymore. He laughed out of his lungs. “OMG! So what happened at the end?” “She said I can do whatever, but she doesn’t want to get involved with me. She’s not interested in the money or me.” Jade explained. “What? So what are you going to do now?” Lucas moved closer to his friend, interested. “What else? Just keep persuading her until she eventually gives in! Have you ever seen me lose to anyone?!” Jade hissed, thinking of the next step to get Sapphire to dance to his tune. One thing was clear: Jade wanted her at all costs. If she marries someone else, he would lose his dreams to overtake BB Company and everything he truly owned and everything he had worked so hard for.
