Chapter 24: He Is Changing

“Are you really going to be like this? Teachers aren’t supposed to be so violent!” Jade warned. “They taught us to do this whenever we encounter a pervert.” She explained. “I could kick you where it really hurts, you know. Want me to do that?” She asked with a content smirk. Jade pulled back before she lefts her legs. He stared through his trousers as if he was looking at his balls. Sapphire stared at it the same way, too. He glared at her and swallowed. The both of them watched each other, not knowing what next to do. It’s so obvious that they’re always heated when they’re together. Stephen invited Mr. Tim to come to visit him immediately. Tim had no option but to leave this work to meet the chairman (since he literally works for Jade and Stephen.) “I’m supposed to be at work right now, sir.” Mr Tim complained. “I’m crazily busy now, all thanks to your grandson.” “That punk ignored my call again!” Stephen whirred. “We’re getting calls from everywhere right now, sir. Everyone wants to know who the beautiful lady is. Perhaps I think he is meeting with that teacher again today.” The chairman leaned forward, closer to Mr. Tim. “And they met yesterday?” “Yes.” He replied the chairman. Stephen couldn’t help but to burst out in laughter. “He’s doing great, then! He’d be a fool to let Sapphire go just like that. Now, I’m certain for sure that those two would fall in love with each other.” The chairman wore a mild smile and relax his back to his armchair. Noticing the Chairman’s attitude, Tim felt surprised. He wondered why he’s so concerned about getting his grandson involved with her. “Umm... But why do you like her so much?” His eyes blinked. “I mean, I’m sure that we could find a woman who’s kinder, smarter and curvier than her, if we search hard. I think Jade would love girls with a foreign background. You know what I mean, sir?” Mr. Tim suggested. “Yes, I know. But those women won’t be able to change Jade. In this world, there are certain people who make the people around change because of their presence. Just like my late wife. I don’t want Jade to be a bad boy all his life. He’s old enough, and I want him to straighten up. Only Sapphire could carry that task.” The chairman enunciated. “The CEO won’t change easily.” Mr. Tim added. “He’s changed already.” The chairman responded with a sincere look. “He’s the only one unaware of that. What an i***t!” He chuckled once more before drinking from the wine cup in front of him. Mr. Tim drank with him, too. Jade was still staring at the angry stickers she sent to him. They looked stupidly funny to him. He was smiling at the screen of his phone. There was an offended look on Sapphire’s face as she sent him more cranky stickers. Jade opened it one after another with an excited face, as if it were a birthday present. She sent a dragon roaring out of fire; he laughed at it. Sapphire sent a child breaking a bottle on the wall. He chuckled at it again. She inspected him and nodded her head negatively. “Only a dumb would laugh at such a thing, Jade. You know those emotions are stand-ins for curse words, right? It’s not meant to be laughed about.” Jade’s smile immediately dropped as he raised his head, looking vacantly at her. Sapphire grabbed her handbag with her right hand and the bouquet with her left hand. About to stand, Jade held her back to the seat as if he was possessive of her. Staring at the flower, he didn’t even notice it was on the table all these while. “And where on Earth did you get this ugly bouquet? I’m pretty sure I didn’t buy flowers for you.” He raised an eyebrow. “It’s not like you’ve made yourself easy to love.” She cut into his words. “Then, did you get these from a guy by chance?” He jealously frowned. “Why are you so curious about that?” “Just answer me! Who gave you these flowers? I’m sure you didn’t go on a blind date.” “A young, charming prince.” She smirked. “So who could it have been, then? Just give me his name!” Jade girded. “It’s not like you’d know, even if I told you.” She gave him a smug look. “And does that man know about me?” He scorned. “Do you explain your engagement with me to every woman you’re seeing?” “So... What you’re saying is that you met up with a guy before coming to meet me?” He stared deep into her eyes. As if pained or something. “You know what? I think there’s something I left out of the contract.” He let off a deep sigh and then looked at her again. “Let’s rewrite the contract.” His voice aroused. “What do you mean? Let’s rewrite what?” Her eyes widened to his sudden suggestion. “No cheating on each other. Never! No putting on an innocent act only to stab me in the back later! You will not see any other man except me!” He made clear with his eyes, fixed on hers. “When did I ever cheat on you?” She intoned. “Define see ‘any other man’.” “Don’t even try to lie to me and tell me you have to make friends. So everyone else besides your family is off-limits. Keep your distance even from guys you may randomly encounter on the street.” He pointed out. Hearing Jade say this was stupid, Sapphire just leaned forward thinking about what he’s saying. “Then are you going to keep your distance from any other woman besides the women in your family while dating me?” Thinking about it felt awkward, but Jade nodded his head positively and agreed. “You don’t really have to do that, though.” She focused on him, staring into his eyes closely. “So you will not see Celine Tam, Angelica Hale, Kimberly Snores, Victoria Washington, Esther Summers, Wendy Geoffrey. Samantha Bakers and Chloe Charles any more?” Jade couldn’t help but to stare open-mouthed at her. It’s obvious that she didn’t just google about his life. She memorized their names and believe it all. He just closed his mouth, that suddenly went dry and swallowed hard. ‘Why would she have to bring that up? No! Why would she have to believe that?’ He wondered as he looked down. “Look here, Fire! You should only believe one-tenth of what you read online, okay?” he whizzed in annoyance like a housefly. She grabbed his hand like a child begging for Ice cream. “Which of them were you actually dating, then? Tell me, please.” He just couldn’t answer her, nor could he find the answers to. Sapphire gasped like she’d seen all the answers written on his face. Jade stared at her, confused. “Is it true that you have a kid too? I heard that you’re having your kid raised in the Europe! Is Esther Summers truly your baby mama? How many baby Mamas do you have?! Huh??!” “Do you want to be sued for defamation and the spreading of false rumours?” Jade sizzled at her, able to bear her attitude. “Well fine, it’s not as if I’ll be one of your baby mamas, anyway. I won’t be your kid’s mum too!” She hissed at him and pointed. “So, you better not lay a finger on me. I’m warning you, keep your hands off me! Don’t grab my waist without permission, or ki--“ She touched her lips thinking about the night before. Jade planted a smirk on his lips as she mentioned this. He loves to see her this way. “Well, what I mean is no physical contact!” Sapphire concluded. “Hahahahaaa! OMG!!” Jade laughed out loud. He laughed out loud, for real. For once in a very long time. Sapphire wore a puzzled look at him. “What’s so funny?” “You’ve never dated a guy before, right?” “That’s not true!” She spat at him. Jade ended his chuckle with a bright smile. “Then you’ve only went on arranged meetings. You’ve only dated eunuchs? It seems you’re unaware of this, so let me fill you in.” He advised. Sapphire just rolled her eyes at him and looked away, uninterested. “When a man and a woman are dating, they hold hands, kiss and get intimate with each other, also known as f*****g deep. That’s what all couples do. They keep each other’s secrets and have each other's backs. They’re supportive and understanding. Not stomping around like you do and calling me names. Sharing love is perfectly natural among couples you know?” He explained, dreamingly. “How did I end up with a Playboy like you?” Sapphire murmured. “It seemed like you’re unaware of this, so let me fill you in... Let me tell you something! That’s not what people do when they’re dating. That’s what people do when they’re in love with each other!” “So what you’re saying is... You don’t love me?” He quirked an eyebrow. “Exactly? I despise you a lot, Jade. You’re just a burden. An enormous burden.” She pointed out. “Fine. Very good!” Jade scoffed disappointedly.
