Chapter Fourteen
When Elena opened the wrought iron gate to her Master’s home, it suddenly struck her how ominous it looked. The Berjinskys had forced her to begin to realize where she might be headed. Until now, she had no desire to face her future. Her mind raced. Was living with her Master and Mistress any better than living in a shelter or with her abusive father? In the back of her mind, she felt herself wondering if it made a difference now. Tears brimmed in her eyes.
