Jenny woke up the next morning in the position she had assumed last night – her head was on the bed beside Jasmine and her fingers were still linked with her friend's. Her ears picked up voices coming from outside the room, and when she listened carefully, she figured it was Leon and the elder Pascal. There were other people, but she stopped paying attention to them.
She raised her head and turned to look at Jasmine. Though she wasn't awake yet, Jenny could see some color had returned to her face, and her breathing had normalized unlike what she noticed last night.
A smile slowly spread across her face as hope bloomed in her heart again.
