Jasmine woke up with a slight headache. She had thought she was only dreaming about everything that happened, but it seems this was reality.
She lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling. She didn't know whether to cry or shout even though there was this strong awareness that none of those things could make her situation better.
The soft click of the door pulled her attention toward the source of the sound. When the door opened, Jenny walked in. Since yesterday, she began to see her best friend as a stranger who didn't think twice before betraying her.
"Thank heavens you're awake." She heard Jenny say.
Jasmine turned her face toward the ceiling again. "What's so good about waking up in captivity?" She asked.
"Cheer up, Jasmine. It's not as bad as you make it sound." Jenny spoke sweetly and Jasmine turned to give her a look.
A soft laugh erupted from Jenny's throat when she saw the look Jasmine gave her. "Now, that's how my friend would look at me. I miss that face, baby girl." She moved to sit on the bed beside Jasmine.
"I don't consider you my friend anymore." Jasmine said seriously, but Jenny just laughed again. Jasmine became confused. Why is this girl still laughing in a situation like this?
"You will take back your words very soon. That I can assure you, Jasmine." Jenny replied.
"Don't sound so sure. I really hate you now." Jasmine retorted.
"Of course, you hate me now because you don't know what's happening yet. Once you understand the situation, you'll realize that I'm still your bestie who would never do anything to hurt you." Jenny assured her.
The fact that Jasmine was even talking to her like this showed that there was reasonable progress and it will be easier to make her understand their current situation.
Jasmine finally climbed down from the bed when she felt the need to empty her bladder. When she started walking toward the bathroom, Jenny suddenly panicked as she remembered something.
Caleb had come in here earlier with blood-stained clothes, and she remembered Diana saying that Caleb appeared in his room with only a towel. Were his clothes still in the bathroom? If they were still there and Jasmine sees them, she wouldn't take it well.
Jenny didn't know what to do at the moment. If she stopped Jasmine from entering the bathroom, she would become suspicious. If she let her go, there is a possibility that she will see the clothes. Jenny decided to let her go while racking her brain to come up with an excuse for why the clothes were there.
Jasmine finally reached the bathroom and shut the door. Every second she spent in there was like a ticking bomb in Jenny's mind. When the door opened again, and Jasmine walked out, Jenny let out a relieved breath.
Her relief, however, was short-lived because the next second, Jasmine's eyes stretched wide as if she was in shock. Jenny scrunched her brows and was about to ask Jasmine why she was looking like that when she realized that Jasmine was not looking at her. Her gaze was directed at something behind her.
Alarmed, Jenny's claws suddenly elongated and she turned around sharply to attack the intruder. She was only half an inch away from clawing the person's face when she saw that it was Diana, but she couldn't stop herself anymore.
Thankfully, Diana disappeared from the spot before she would receive a painful and horrifying lifelong scar on her face. She reappeared a few seconds later when Jenny's hand had returned to normal.
Diana flashed an apologetic smile at Jenny but Jenny was beyond pissed.
"Are you crazy? What are you doing showing up here like that? Huh?" Jenny asked exasperatedly.
"Sorry... I didn't mean any harm." Diana spoke when she realized how serious Jenny was at the moment.
"You i***t, I could have killed you. Caleb will have your head without batting an eye if he found out that you nearly scared her to death." Jenny still sounded angry even though she was trying hard to calm down.
"It's not like you will tell him. It's just a small harmless visit." Diana defended her actions.
"Maybe I should tell him since you decide to disobey his order. I told you no one is permitted to visit yet." Jenny turned back to face Jasmine, who was looking at the two of them without uttering a single word. The look of shock had reduced, but on a closer look, one would see that she was still recovering from the previous shock.
After looking at the two women in the room, Jasmine's eyes came to settle on the strange woman who appeared out of thin air. Is she a magician? How did she do that?
And now that she thought of it, her eyes moved back to her friend. Did she just see her friend grow claws? Was she still dreaming? She closed her eyes and pinched herself really hard until she winced from the pain she felt. When she opened her eyes, she was still in the same room.
"Come on Jenny. I only wanted to see the future queen. I couldn't stop my curiosity." Diana's voice successfully pulled Jasmine away from her thoughts.
"Queen?" Jasmine asked with a frown. She gave Jenny a questioning look before she asked, "What is she talking about, Jenny?"
Diana let out a soft gasp. "She doesn't know?" She asked as her hand slowly traveled to her mouth as if she regrets saying what she just said.
Jenny sent a sharp glare to Diana and the latter only smiled widely.
"Oops... slip of the tongue. See you later Jenny." Diana uttered and flashed a crazy smile at Jasmine before she disappeared as if she was never there in the first place.
"Who is she and what is she talking about?" Jasmine asked Jenny. The suspense is becoming too much and it seemed as if she was the only one left in the dark.
"Her name is Diana Drew. She is a witch. She has been the one treating Caleb for a few years now. About what she said, Yes it's true. You are the future queen of Sorenia." Jenny announced.
