Huge, cold-blooded with tattoos all over his body, Raymond! He stood facing the mirror with a red eye. He could not sleep throughout the night. His thoughts were occupied with things known to him.
“Why??” He yelled angrily, hitting his hand on the flower vase placed on the table. The poor vase shattered to pieces on the ground but Raymond gave no damn care to it. What was bothering, haunting him was something worse than the breaking of a precious loom. His knuckles bleed, he wasn’t even aware of it. The pain was nothing compared to what he felt now. A lone tear slid down his face. He never cried before but this hurts. It really does! Why did he have to do that? It was a mistake! He should be forgiven. He should be spared. But it doesn't seem he might be after all. He looked at his reflection in the mirror and gritted his teeth, with his fist folded in determination. He was going to endure this to the utmost. He cleaned the tear in his face aggressively as he prepared to take his bath. Against all odds, he must be present at his office. He jingled the bell hanging near his door. Almost immediately, a maid stepped in.
“Yes, sir.” Raymond did not bother saying anything, he just pointed to the messed up floor. The maid widened her eyes. She became more afraid. Raymond passed her a glance before stepping into the bathroom.
Raymond is the last son of Mr and Mrs Braine. He has two older brothers who treat him like thrash. His mother as well dislikes him and he still can't pinpoint the reason why. His father is the only one he can still look up to. His brother's hatred for him grew when his father handed his company to him. Quarrel erupted because of this. Pressure from his brothers and from his mother. Since that day, he vowed to make himself worthy of the company. Without wasting time, he was ready for work. He stepped out of the room heading to his car park.
“Boss, breakfast is ready.”
“What did you prepare?” His husky voice came to life.
“I prepared tuebokki.”
“Throw it away.”
“Hun!”
“Do as I say.” He said before finally stepping out of the house. The head of
maids whose mouth was still open sighed.
“He is in a bad mood again. Did he have that dream again?”
“Sigh…” She was the only one who understood him and Raymond saw in her a mother figure so confides in her.
“I'm sorry, boy.” She wisphered. What was she hiding?
Everyone at Laden company ran around putting things in place. The alarm in the office was already blaring signaling the arrival of their boss. No one was ready to face his wrath. Few minutes later, Raymond arrives at his company with his cold aura as usual. Every employee's head was bowed in greetings to him. They were not even expecting him to respond. That was how he does. He moved lazily towards the elevator pressing down the button. Immediately he entered, his best friend followed suit.
“Hey! What are you doing here?” Raymond asked, surprised.
“Baby! I got back yesterday. I missed you, that's why I'm here.” Damien said funnily.
“Eww… that's gross. I thought you were never coming back.”
“I never wanted to. There were free chicks there but I missed you, that's all.” Raymond scoffed at his friend. That was how he always was. Feminine! He went to the states on a vacation and just returned. The elevator dinged open welcoming them to his enormous office. Raymond sighed loudly when Damien ran into his office with his mouth wide open.
“Oh my goodness. Bro, this is massive.”
“You're drooling young man.” Raymond said with smiles on his face.
Damien was the only one who made him smile.
“Oh…I just couldn't help it. It has totally changed. This was not how I left it.”
“It shouldn't remain stagnant, yunno.”
“You have a wine cage?” He gasped before rushing towards it.
Raymond sat on his swirling office chair pressing down a button on his table. His secretary walked into the office. She was one of those who was in love with Raymond. She twisted her body till she got to his front.
“Boss, you called for me.” She said seducingly. Raymond was not even looking at her. His eyes were buried down in the file on the table.
“Get me a cup of coffee.”
“Oh, and what?” This time Raymond looked up at her. What were all these annoying questions?
“Will you get out and do as I say or I will send you out of my company?” He yelled angrily, making her jump out of his office.
“b***h!” He spat.
“Hey man! Take it easy. You've still not changed. When will you stop been indifferent to ladies? Hun? And she's pretty after all.” Damien said, licking his lips. Raymond rolled his eyes.
“I know that was what you busied yourself doing in the states.”
“Of course, what do you expect? I really enjoyed myself.” Raymond shook his head at him.
“How far are you with your brothers?” Damien asked as he settled down on the couch with a bottle of wine and a glass cup.
“I haven't seen them for a while now.”
“Really. They've not disturbed you yet?”
“They came here a few days ago but I did not give them entrance.” His secretary came in with a cup of coffee.
“Why are you just bringing it?” Raymond asked hotly.
“I'm sorry boss.”
“You'd better be.” That moment, his phone rang. Truth be told, his heart skipped a bit when he saw the caller. His Father! What was the problem? He picked it up at the third ring.
“You never intended to pick up my call?” His father's voice came over the phone.
“Father!”
“Meet me at home right now. We need to talk.”
“Father…” He couldn't complete his words. His father hung up the call. Raymond's breath was shaking.
“What does he want this time?” Damien asked.
“I don't know. I need to go.” Raymond said as he stood up straight into his car. As he held the wheels, his thoughts swirled. What does he want this time around? Are his brothers around as well?
