He was still holding me tightly, and I could feel my heartbeat refusing to slow down properly.
The closeness between us had not fully faded from what just happened, and even though I tried to focus, my thoughts kept slipping back to the same moment again and again.
I finally gathered myself enough to ask the question that had been bothering me.
“Why are you taking the Yahyi?” I asked quietly.
There was a brief silence before he responded.
A deep sigh left him, like the answer itself weighed on him.
“Because that is the only thing that works for my condition,” he said slowly.
His voice was lower now, more controlled, but there was something heavy underneath it.

I stayed still, listening.
