CHAPTER 8 - FUTURE

512 Words
AURORA Future is just a place to die for. The décor is superbly filled with antiques. The perfect place for a getaway. Cool and cozy.  'First time here too?’ someone asked tapping my shoulder. I turned around to meet her. The long dark hair and almond-shaped eyes made her unique. Pretty. Just like me, she seemed bored with the orientation. Honestly, the supervisor was boring. I would rather admire my surroundings than listen to him. Not to be rude but I was being honest with myself at least. I didn’t know much about service but I believe there is nothing more than being courteous with the clients and treat them like royals. Most likely they will get really drunk afterward and misbehave but that was okay so long as they have had their fun and emptied their pockets. ‘This man makes me want to pull my hair out. Can’t he just stop talking? We are not in kindergarten. So boring,' she whispered distracting my thoughts again. I liked her honesty. I had a feeling we were going to get along pretty well.  ‘Tell me about it. Aurora,' ‘Andrea - a pleasure to meet you,' she responded reaching out for my hand. I did the same. Honestly, I’m happy. The one thing I hate is standing out. If I had been the only new employee all eyes would have been on me. At least we were four and one was already a potential friend. Even if I mess, which I wasn’t planning on at least one person would be able to relate.  ‘You two concentrate,’ a voice barked. I looked up to see Jaden glaring at us. His face looked stern almost pissed but his eyes looked amused. That brat. I will get him back for this. It’s obvious he wanted to embarrass me and I unknowingly gave him a chance. He was right we should respect our supervisors. But given that he personally chose him to orient us meant he was out for some fun. The more I get to know him the more I see his mischievous side. But to be able to keep a low profile I had to feign fear. Furthermore, I already got in through the back door with no interview. If I’m too social with him people will solidify their already wrong impression. Service began afterward. The clients were pretty manageable. A few of them embarrassed themselves but the others seemed to care mostly about their image. To an extent, they were not truly having fun. If I were in their position I would show off my moves regardless of whom was watching. If they laugh- their problem, impressed -join in, haven’t seen- their loss. I love being free-spirited besides I will only live once. I hope there is no rule against employees having fun after work hours. I will ask Jaden later.  Turns out although fun is allowed time wasn’t available. At the end of every shift which happened to be mornings, I was totally whipped. All I wanted was my bed.
