Chapter Five – The Brownlows
A month after Mrs. Bennett's funeral, Ted had resigned as Union Representative at the mine and Archie was beginning to feel less tense about bumping into him in the street. He wasn't sure exactly what had happened with the pit bosses but Mr. Bennett had assured him that the money had been returned and pay negotiations were in place with the new leader. It certainly hadn't done any harm that a considerable donation had anonymously found its way into the church restoration fun either. The vicar had asserted his authority on the morality of the parish and intended to keep a close eye on his wayward flock.
