If this story's genre is based on horror genre, the creepy music would have started in the background, the room would be deadly silent apart from the overly exaggerated knocking sound, and oh boy, I would be trembling on my toes already.
Except, this is not a horror story, and yes, sorry to break it to you, but I am not going to tremble because of some being created by a rumor (IF, that being really existed).
Like any good protagonist I am (for my own life story of course!) I stood up from my bed and crouched down in front of the unopened sliding door. If I open it now will something happen? Or will it not? I was juggling in between these thoughts.
