CHAPTER 2

ALEX’S POV My eyes fluttered open, trying to adjust to the sudden brightness. I felt a body on my arms as I stared to see who it was. “The f**k! Didn't I tell you to get the f**k out of here yesterday?” I thundered as I woke the b***h who was laying beside me. “I am sorry, I just thought that was because you were drunk last night. Didn’t you enjoy our s*x?” She asked with a sly smile. “Take this and get out, else you will be disgraced!” I said, throwing a bundle of money at her. She managed to get her dressed before scurrying out of the room in fear. I got out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my torso. Passing by a mirror, I looked at my reflection with a smile. “Alex Montgomery, the most eligible bachelor in New York City,” I said to myself with an air of pride. I was truly the most eligible bachelor. With my looks and money, I had the girls falling at my feet whenever I needed them. I had s*x with different ladies every other night and was tagged Playboy of the Year. I partied hard and lived life to the fullest, despite all of these attitudes I never took my company for granted. It was all I had left of my parents after they died in a tragic accident. This was their only legacy left and I promised to do everything in my power to set it right. I was the ruthless billionaire CEO who wouldn’t hesitate to send away those who were lacking or were causing trouble in my company. Montgomery Industries was tagged the best in NYC and many wanted to work for us. I was proud of my achievement but deep down I wasn’t happy. I was still very young when I lost my parents, it wasn’t a pleasant event. I couldn’t believe I had lost both of them like that and till now, it still felt like a dream. My family was a happy one, we had everything we had always wanted. From love to peace to happiness to wealth. It was a complete arrangement, I had been so used to this that I didn’t take the news well after my parent's death. I stayed away from people and hid in the confinement of my room, praying for my parents to come back but they didn’t. They were gone forever and left me alone in this lonely world. A few months after their death everyone was gone, I was alone most of the time and yearned for attention. I stared at my classmates as their parents dropped them at school, saying all sorts of words of encouragement but I never received any. My uncle who also had his company barely had time for me and left everything for the maids and drivers; I felt alone. I grew cold and stopped talking to people except when it was necessary but even at that, no one noticed how broken I was. There was no one to express my pain to, no one to cry on their shoulders, or anyone who asked me how I felt. After high school, I started accepting my loneliness and even preferred it but at some point, I wanted to be the center of attention. I wanted everyone to notice me, I wanted to be loved, and started my playboy attitude. I changed girls every day like a piece of clothing and soon started becoming popular. I found it interesting how girls were all at my feet willing to do anything for me. Despite all of this, the feeling of being lonely was still there and I yearned for love and attention like any other day. I strode into my car with an air of arrogance. “Take me to the office. Gosh, I still have a hangover.” I complained to Lucas, who was my best friend. “Remind me why I am still friends with you. You are so arrogant,” he complained, earning a sigh from me. “We have an important meeting today, let's head to the office as fast as we can.” I rather said, ignoring his words. Soon we were at the office and we headed to the meeting room. I greeted everyone before settling down to sit. I could barely make out what the investor was saying because of my bad hangover! “I don't like this.” I thought to myself as I massaged my temples. “It is very obvious that you can't be in this meeting. This is a bad impression on Mr Alex!” the investor thundered angrily. “Wait, you have to understand me. I am sorry for this, it will never happen again.” I apologized immediately, trying to stand on my feet was the worst move because I fell back into the chair almost immediately. “We can't trust you with this attitude,” the investor said. “This can't be happening, I need this deal!” I thought as I ruffled my hair. “‘If he was married would have been better but he isn't, hence causing his irresponsibility!” one of the men chirped in. “I have a fiance, I will be getting married to her soon. We can sign the deal after my marriage right?” I asked, realizing what I had just blurted out. “Okay then, till after your marriage we can't sign the deal.” the investors said before walking away. “What the f**k did you mean by fiancee, who is she?” Logan asked almost immediately. “I don't know, I just said what I had to say. You can't blame me!” I said frustrated. “Well, it is not my fault that you had to drink yourself to stupor!” Lucas retorted, making me angry. “Just think of something, I don't even have a girlfriend,” I told him. “Can't you get married to one of the girls you f**k?” Lucas asked, earning a glare from me. “That's not an option,” I uttered. “I have an idea,” he suddenly said.
