TBWL#28: Fearless hunt

2265 Words
You need to learn to hunt like a lion, if you want to fulfill your aspirations, live or die while hunting, do not worry about your life because life is not a trip to the grave with the intention to come with a pretty guise. It is not about resting in a safe place, in a beautiful place, where the body was preserved, but slipped, completely exhausted, completely exhausted, and loudly declared: "I did not die in vain." ------------------------------ CALIXTO's POINT OF VIEW  ---------------------------- "Make sure each walkie-talkie is working. We only have five (5) radios, stick with your group. Check your amino. Lastly, don't die." "Let's go."  In total, we are ten, the remaining four will guard the hide-out and keep the recorded data safe. We are going out to secure food supply and gas for the motorcycle and the truck we are using.  Gasoline is crucial for traveling purposes. We could not possibly walk openly in the road, that is suicide. There's no telling of when and how many daywalkers would surface, the best way to live is to escape. Romer and Jiro hid the motorcycle along with the rest of us inside the container box of the truck. On our way to the urbanized part of this rural district, an old lady appeared out of nowhere. It was a zombie, no need to sympathize. We arrived at  I guess you could describe it as one in a dream-- nothing seems real anymore. All the people, animals; etc. are all gone. There are no noises of anyone or anything. Everything is hazy, abandoned—almost scary. You almost expect to see ghosts, or spectral beings floating around, hiding in the shadows, waiting for the unwary to catch them in acts that might have caused the destruction of the city. We stepped out onto the street. Running my eyes across the tattered rooftops. Down across the rain & dust streaked windows. Then across the sidewalk, past some open and some closed doors. There is nothing left in the shop windows to sell but a scattered good. The business signs streaked with rust the droppings of birds. Last I looked at the street. A 1/4r inch of fine drift dirt and dried blood.  We divided the group into two; Romer, Lore, and I are in the food sector while Jiro and the rest shall secure a supply of diesel and gas. I should feel less nervous since there is no single living dead walking. However, I can't help but be anxious. I remember the last time we did was a swarm of zombies chasing after us.  When there is no sound, the danger might surprise us. A danger that speaks no sound could be more dangerous than a disturbing danger. A danger in silence is lethal since we are not prepared. "This is strange. We have not seen any daywalkers since we set foot here.," says I. We filled each backpack with biscuits, loaves, and instant noodles.  Our walkie-talkie made a fuss, in the background we heard Jiro cursing at the wind. "Hello, hello, this is Calixto, what happened?!" "We are stranded with a sea of zombies. We are on the rooftop of the Gaisano building. We have not got the target, these fuckers ambushed us. The door here won't last long. We had used the projectile to swoop a few of them, but they are just too much to handle. It must be hard to deal with those fuckers. Four over hundreds of zombies is like digging your own grave. "Hold it for a while. We are going to distract those fuckers." Romer ordered the driver to get us and drive to the area. When we arrived at the area, the first thing I noticed was Jiro's hand, he was signaling us to hurry.  Romer and I nodded our heads as a signal to start what plan we had in our mind. We used the last drop of the motorcycle, and I hope it lasts long, or else we are going to be devoured.  We threw a projectile and it hit the heart of the audience. They scattered and started chasing us. We lead them to a village with a gate to trap them inside, since they are stupid they would not know that there is another escape route. "What's the situation?" "We were able to clean up the left-over zombies. We also secured the supply, right now we are loading the truck." "Alright, we're on our way." We successfully came back alive. We loaded the motorcycle before hiding it back on the container of the track. We locked it from the inside and stood up since there is a scarcity of space inside. We headed to the darker alley of the district and waited for the sun to sleep.  Our last goal before this day's end is to hunt Zombiti bugs. This will be a long day for us.  "If I'm going to die today, please bury me beside Kael," says Kiara. "No one will die tonight. You must live, Kiara, if Kael is here he will probably be mad. Live on, got it?" says Romer while moving out the motor. Kiara responded with a faint smile. I tapped her back before heading out with my motorcycle. Within an hour, it would turn dark. The blinking street lamps add spice to our anxiety.  Each of us is stationed in the respective area, there is a watch out on the left and back, from afar they are bound to see what is going on behind us. It would be better if we have an extra walkie-talkie to ensure all sides are being watched. The remaining members are hiding and will only reveal themselves in case of life and death. Jiro and I will do the killing. I wonder how many nightwalkers would show up. We entered a tunnel, which is an underground passageway, dug through the surrounding soil/earthock and enclosed except for entrance and exit, commonly at each end. The place is too dark, we made sure that we have the chance to go to the surface, we only need to lure it out.  "Here comes the fucker," says Jiro. "The coast is clear, be careful." Just like our instinct, five-night walkers chase after us the moment it recognizes a human. It's running at an aggressive speed. If we are running with our legs, we are likely to die instantly. It really does run with great speed compared to the daywalkers' speed, nightwalkers can run. I hit the pedal to increase the speed, Jiro is now behind me. I will make a U-turn on the next street to deceive the nightwalker. I will go behind it and sever its head. I assume that one of its weaknesses is the focus, it will let its guard down when it's confused by two or three targets. Once we corner it, we have to attack all at once. The three zombies were shut down by our fellow, the watchers used a focus lens mm gun to shoot the zombies. It was an ambush so the zombies had no idea what we were going to do. The remaining two are still after us, since they are alarmed now, it is hard for us to shoot it since we are driving. After a lot of wasted amino, I successfully shut the other, while the other one chased after Jiro. Bang! My motorbike hit a passerby, it's not a zombie but a woman who appeared out of nowhere. No one gives me a head up because this area has no surveillance personnel. I lost control and was thrown away and rolled a few circles on the ground.  "f**k! O-ouch!" I could not help but yell because of the unbearable pain in my right leg. I tried to get up and tried to touch my right leg, but it hurts even more. After trying several times, I managed to stand up and picked up my UZi, and approached the body I clashed with. It went flying in the building, sadly its throat was accidentally struck in the protruding steel.  I headed to my motorbike, it is really in bad shape, the same goes for my walkie-talkie. I looked around, it's quite far from Jiro and the rest. How am I supposed to get out of here alive...? "Damn!" My eyes widened and almost fell from my socket when a nightwalker stood at the end of the road, approximately twenty (20) steps away from me. I'm doomed! I have no amino... ----------------------------------------------------------------- Reminders: DO NOT BE CONFUSE. DO NOT FORGET THE FF DETAILS.  --------------------------------------------- =Underground hideout is a place discovered by Jiro and his five men. Some holes are specifically designed to circulate and balance the carbon and oxygen for us to breathe underground. About the electricity, Underground natural sources of visible light are considered. The main light producer is Cerenkov radiation emitted in the air, water, and rock by cosmic ray muons, which depends, in a complex way, on the shape of the mountain and of caves. In general, the illumination increases linearly with the cavity dimensions. Other light sources are from secondary processes generated by radioactive decay in rock from minerals luminescence. Also, it has a hydroelectricity generator as another source of electricity. The sunlight is also beneficial as a reserve energy. = Zombiti bug, the real name of 'Neuro' they discovered before. According to the stolen book from the secret wall, this parasite may or may not harbor the giant virus. It looks like a bug with long vectors that connect to the veins to control the body and mind of its host. = Giant virus, live on the Zombiti bug, or it may actually be the virus sprung from the Zombiti bug. This virus eats the tissues, flesh, and skin of the host. = Daywalkers, typical zombies who walked aimlessly only to eat. They are slower and less conscious of their surroundings. They are said to be contaminated by This parasitic fungus Ophiocordyceps. = Ophiocordyceps unilateralis sensu lato, gives in to their attackers and 'loses their minds.' These species of fungus “target” and infect various insects through their spores. After an infection takes place, the parasitic fungus takes control of the mind, altering its behavior to make the propagation of fungal spores more likely. --------------------------------------- The weapon used in zombie hunt: ------------------------------------ = A katana (* or かたな) is a Japanese sword characterized by a curved, single-edged blade with a circular or squared guard and long grip to accommodate two hands. Developed later than the Tachi, it was used by samurai in feudal Japan and worn with the blade facing upward. Since the Muromachi period, many old Tachi were cut from the root and shortened, and the blade at the root was crushed and converted into katana. The official term for katana in Japan is uchigatana (**) and the term katana (*) often refers to single-edged swords from around the world. = Explosive projectile, similar to a grenade but minimizing the sound of an explosion. A device to avoid being chased by daywalkers.  = The Uzi with Silencer (Hebrew: עוזי‎, officially cased as UZI) a family of Israeli open-bolt, blowback-operated submachine guns first designed by Major Uziel "Uzi" Gal in the late 1940s, shortly after the establishment of the State of Israel. It is one of the first weapons to incorporate a telescoping bolt design, which allows the magazine to be housed in the pistol grip for a shorter weapon. = ZS-9004 M4 powerful compound xbow with high speed for shooting and hunting Archery 120lbs. The pulley/cam system grants the user a mechanical advantage, and so the limbs of a compound bow are much stiffer than those of a recurve bow or longbow. This rigidity makes the compound bow more energy-efficient than other bows, as less energy is dissipated in limb movement. The higher-rigidity, higher-technology construction also improves accuracy by reducing the bow's sensitivity to changes in temperature and humidity. In some compound bows, if the draw-stops or draw-length modules are removed, they will self-lock at full draw and require professional equipment to unlock safely. Many compound bows offer 70–85% let-off once they are pulled to full draw. This allows the shooter to relax and concentrate on the intended target at which they are shooting. = A walkie-talkie, more formally known as a handheld transceiver (HT), is a hand-held, portable, two-way radio transceiver. It resembles a telephone handset, with a speaker built into one end and a microphone in the other (in some devices the speaker also is used as the microphone) and an antenna mounted on the top of the unit. They are held up to the face to talk. A walkie-talkie is a half-duplex communication device. Multiple walkie-talkies use a single radio channel, and only one radio on the channel can transmit at a time, although any number can listen. The transceiver is normally in receive mode; when the user wants to talk they must press a "push-to-talk" (PTT) button that turns off the receiver and turns on the transmitter. Smaller versions of this device are also very popular among young children. It is handy to use because you don't have to dial a number each time you want to transmit, walkie-talkies are quick and easy to use. And best of all, they don't rely on finicky cell phone signals. The handsets transmit directly to each other, so they still work when cell networks fail during natural disasters or power outages.
