TBWL#15: They keep on coming on us.

1182 Words
“One of the hardest things people have to learn is that throughout your life you need to keep fighting and adjusting if you hope to survive. No matter who you are or what position you are in, you must continue to fight for what you want to achieve. There is no greater will than the desire to breathe the air; the life given to us. Never give up. Never stop believing. Never stop fighting.” -------------------------------------------------- Information reveals: 'Neuro-stenosis' the team found a strange middle finger size parasite living on the head of the nightwalkers. They named it Neuro-stenosis, research needs to be done to unveil its nature.  Description: Transparent in color but appears to be crimson when attached to its host. It has varying root sizes that transmit blood and control its host. Has resemblance with bugs, however, it has peculiar vectors. Origin: Unknown -------------------------------------------- Calixto's Point of view. | Somewhere on the vague forest  ----------------------------------------------------------  We did not stay in that house. It would be difficult to leave that place if we happen to be trapped by zombies. After walking miles, the wind had become more sharp and crisp and then our ears had almost fallen off due to the loud scream from a child. Flustered thoughts ran through my brain, the scream became more resonant. That was definitely a distressed scream! We stopped and hid behind a tree. Our hearts were beating so fast that we could even hear each other's beat. I have Lore with me, while from a distance Romer is carrying injured Anya. Next to Romer, is the elderly husband and wife. We can hear the dances of the grass and the sound of a child breathing hard. A girl stepped on the roots of the tree that led her to fall into the ground. I immediately jumped out of the wood and swung my katana on the head of the zombie.  "Are you okay?" I extended my arm and the child jumped on my neck. I was shocked when Romer pointed the gun on the head of the child I just saved. "Do you have a bite mark? Speak before I pull the trigger," says Romer. Lore understood the situation, she checked the body of the child and found no bite. It means she would not turn into a zombie. "Why are you alone in this place?"  "We were passing by here when we heard an explosion. The next we found is a group of zombies who came running. I got separated from them, we are looking for a hidden society." Explosion...? yeah we also heard a massive explosion a while ago. a disturbing loud explosion like that could draw hundreds of zombies. Then, this place is not safe anymore. "Follow us, if you want to live you should learn to defend yourself." This may be harsh for her but she must learn it the hard way. A weakling like me before would be long gone if I had not overcome my phobia of zombies. I looked at her and shook my head, if a nightwalker would appear she might be the first person to be killed.  So far, no zombies had appeared even until we reached the empty road. It leads to an abandoned hospital. At first, we thought that this deafening silence was weird and now we know why... "Run back to the forest!"  "No! Run to the hospital, they are coming everywhere." I carried the child, while Anya was shouting at Romer to leave her be. She could not run due to an injury to her legs. She does not want to burden us that is why she wanted to die at the hands of the zombies. We could not do anything to save her. I saw a tear from Romer's eye. "Faster! Do not let Anya's death fall in vain." It was heart-wrenching when we heard her scream in pain as the zombies tore off her limbs. We were able to leave the graveyard because of Anya's death. Now we ended up entering a bloody village. It is as if a war had lived in her, there are decaying bodies everywhere. Some of them had bullet holes already, perhaps a hunter or survivor had been here before us. The smell of the foul dumpsters filled my nose, making me gag. Out of nowhere, a crunching sound turned out to be clear, I ventured around the corner. There was a young lady. Was, as in past tense. She was set against the block facade, crude pink skin fluttering in the draft, eyes totally open and spacey with dread. Her throat was torn open, streaming blood poured from her wrecked tissue. Her lips dried out and blue and her eyes were never closed, it tells how terrified she was before the zombie snuck out of her. People who encounter zombies have three choices, if you escape from them with a bite, then you will end up like them. The other one is, you will literally be their snack. If you are lucky enough, you may survive in the meantime, it depends on how close you are to your end. Then Romer was about to pull the trigger of his gun but I had to stop him because it would call the attention of zombies, probably there are still lots of zombies somewhere around here. Zombies tend to not care about their surroundings once they are busy munching or satisfying themselves with human flesh. It makes me wonder what is happening inside the system of a zombie... that thing would be understood only by Science. I studied the face of the zombie. His eyes were red and bloodshot, the pupil dilated at least ten times more than normal, the flesh was spotted with grey speck's and decomposing. The little hair that he had left was discolored and falling out, his teeth razor-sharp points, his face, and lips were covered with dried blood. His body also has a lot of cuts, it is expected that regardless of how they damage their lower body, they would not die from it. The only thing that ends the undead is beheading them and that is exactly what I am going to do. I swung my sword and it cut through the neck of the zombie. From its neck was a blood sprinkling like a fountain. The roads and houses are all empty, there is no single soul lingering from them. I was surprised when a zombie suddenly appeared and ran directly to me. I swing my sword and the zombie loses its head. I thought that concluded the attack however it did not stop there, another three zombies appeared.  Why are there so many zombies? damn it! I'm exhausted also, the sun is almost setting. How are we supposed to find a safe place from nightwalkers if day walkers are getting aggressive it is as if they are mutating to more sensitive zombies. Even if I swing and behead a lot of zombies, there is no ending for them, they just keep on coming. What to do?!
