"Don't think about tomorrow when you are barely surviving today. The present precedes the future. Your hand can be held today, but not tomorrow, And your thoughts about tomorrow are nothing more than wishful thinking. Don't waste this breath if your heart is not frantic because "the rest of your life" will not last forever. We care a lot about tomorrow, but we die on the way there."

Calixto's Point of view

“N-night walker,” says Lore, her finger pointing at the three nightwalkers from a distance, behind our backs.
They are the fast type of zombies…
How many will die from our group tonight?
Will I be a corpse this time?
"Run!" Romer and the rest scattered and looked for the higher place.
We should think of a way to eliminate them one by one. s**t, they are faster than the day walkers; if we stumble and fall, we'll be devoured by them.
"We need a plan! We cannot run forever, there might be more of to come," says Anya.
"Divide the group into three. We cannot deal with it alone," says Romer.
We are (10) ten as of now, and there are (3) three nightwalkers, then three zombies is enough, right? or not?
Fuck, I don't care anymore. Let's just do our best to cut their heads, if only we have fire or sunlight. As far as I can remember, nightwalkers are afraid of fires, however, it was not proven. What if we bet on that idea, then it turned out to be a hoax or simply a hearsay?
"Charge now!"
Lore pulled the arrow from the archer, but it did not reach the head of the zombie. The zombie removed the arrow on his face and split it into two. s**t! I think he really is thinking, if not... then what he did just now is extraordinary for a zombie. Good thing we are three against this one, distracting the zombie is one of our advantages. If it tries to chase after one of us, the remaining two will blow him off. What we need right now is to trust our plan. If one would chicken out then, we are going to lose the chance to bring it down.
"Aim for his head!"
"I'm trying! His fast, where are the others?"
"Don't mind them. We have to look for ourselves first," says Romer while loading the archer.
We are only using weapons that are sound-free. The sound of bullets will call the attention of the other lurking danger in the night.
"Now!"
I hit the heart, but it has no effect since their heart is already cold and dry because technically they are dead. They are able to move even without a heartbeat or other vital signs. They are in a decaying (rotting) state, with discolored skin and eyes. Non-communicative such as; groaning and howling instead of speaking. However, the nightwalkers don't have rotting skin, only visible bones.
"Got it!" says Romer.
The zombie kissed the ground, that is the time for us to approach its corpse. I borrowed the machete from Romer and cracked the head of the nightwalker. The crimson blood spilled on the ground. I noticed a strange color flowing together with the blood.
"What is that?" Lore asked. She bent a little to touch it, but I prevented her from doing so.
What if it has a contagious substance? What is that green thing? It looked like blood but it did not belong to a human. Even zombies do not bleed any other color than red. Then, where is it coming?
"Back off, everyone." Romer grabbed me and Lore away from the thing that we just killed.
"What the hell is that?" I stamped on the small thing, a size of 2 inches, and the color beige. If I were to describe it looked like a bug that stands with a lot of vectors.
"Alien or a parasite?" Lore asked.
"Let's find them. We need to capture one alive."
"What are we going to do with that thing? We do not have a laboratory to conduct research or experiment."
"We need to check if those things will be killed by sunlight."
We came searching for the others since we got separated a while ago. We found the group of Granger sitting on the road, beside a headless nightwalker. Then, later on, the remaining four reunited with us. Romer headed straight to the separated head of the nightwalker and carefully cracked the head. There we found the same thing, but this time it's breathing.
"What is that?"
"We accidentally found out that there is something inside the head of the zombie."
"Could it be that thing has the control of nightwalkers?"
"Possible."
"Should we kill it now?"
"We must preserve it," Romer replied, he chops off the limbs of the thing that they discovered to prevent it from moving. As expected it is still alive. Just by looking at it, I can't say that it is not capable of regenerating or the other way around. "What should we call that thing?"
"Are you crazy?! Why are you keeping that thing? It will kill us," says Gerard. He grabbed Romer's collar and was about to punch him.
Lore meddled and pushed Gerard away from Romer. "This is not time for us to fight."
"Shut up, I need to knock off the head of that psycho. He is putting everyone in danger with his crazy ambition of capturing that peculiar thing!"
The human race is really a pain in the ass, they really had time to fight in the middle of the night?! What if another nightwalker appeared and we are all not in our guards?
Gerard pulled a revolver and pointed it to Romer's head. Everyone is alarmed, it's not just Romer's life that they feared but the sound of a gun which obviously calls the zombies.
"Relax! This will not fix the argument. Gerard, are you going to kill us? You know zombies are sensitive to gunshots. If I were you, I will put it back to where it was before," says Anya.
"That's right, let's calm down." Just when I finished my statement, my eyes widened when one of our members was dragged by the zombie. "s**t! We need to save her!"
"You know it's too late. We may find her... but I doubt she would make it out alive," says Granger.
"Let's go, I think they will hunt one by one."
That's it? They will not try to save her? What if she is still alive? It's not like the zombie bit her. We were about to turn our backs when we heard a voice of a woman running towards us. I knew it, she...
"Run! She's been chased by five-night walkers. We just have to make it until sunrise!"
Damn it! If this continues, I am going to collapse!
I can’t lose my consciousness this time. I want to live...
