Chapter 5: Bitten
"What the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks! You bit me? You did. You actually bit me!"
Kit couldn't stop touching his neck where the skin felt torn to shreds. He'd been bitten by a dog as a little boy and it had taken him years to get over it. His mother had convinced him to look at the bite in a mirror she held up for him. The small wound seemed so much less when he could see it.
Touching his neck, Kit asked, "How big is it? Can you take a picture for me? Use my phone. It'll---it'll help."
Janus looked at him as if he were speaking a foreign language.
It was clear she didn't see what he was upset about---what wasn't clear was why she didn't understand he was upset she'd bitten him on the neck!
"I have a thing about blood. I'm not good with it. Just. Is it bleeding bad?"
Kit thought he was as shocked as he was capable of being until Janus pulled his hand away from his neck to lick at his fingers. No blood remained on his hand when she stopped and released his wrist from her grip. She leaned in to lick at his neck and he tried to push her away.
"Hey! Hey! Do you have any idea how many germs are in the average person's mouth? You can't just lick an open wound!"
Kit moved his hand up to touch the sore again only to feel smooth skin. He rubbed at it and felt a raised area with no bleeding. It was as if the wound had closed up on its own, but he knew it had been there. His neck still tingled from being pierced by Janus's teeth. He could feel the warmth of his blood rushing to the surface. What was going on?
Chancing a look at his fingers, Kit stared at his clean hand, "Why isn't there any blood? I was bleeding. You bit me. I know. I can still feel it. What's happening?"
"I cleaned the wound. I am Alpha. You are my mate. I can heal you. I am sorry for the bite. I didn't---didn't expect to want to during this s*x. I thought it would only happen if I were closer to a moonrise."
"You're completely serious about this whole werewolf thing, aren't you? What is this? Some kind of kinky s*x cult?"
Janus frowned at him and moved off his lap to tug her shorts off, tearing off what was left of her tank top while she was at it. Her back was more well-defined than many Kit had seen at his gym. He was glad he'd kept his t-shirt on. After this whole thing was over, Kit was going to add weight training to his exercise regimen.
"I've never had s*x before today. I think being a virgin makes me a poor candidate to lead a cult of s*x. I need a shower. I smell of lust and your release. My people will ask too many questions if I don't clean myself. You may use the shower in this room. Do not try to leave until I send someone for you."
Kit had always considered himself a pretty laid back guy. It occurred to him as Janus left the room, abandoning him to the bed with his limp shaft exposed and smelling like---yeah, like s*x, he really did like a cuddle after making love.
Had he ever just done it before?
All his life Kit had focused on being good to his partners and being invested in their pleasure as much as his own. There were no moments he could remember where he'd just gotten off and left the other person on the bed alone immediately after. He'd had a few quickies, sure, but just leaving?
She could have at least given him a kiss first.
Kit was slow moving off the bed -his thighs ached a little from the cramped position he'd been in during their romp- but no one came in. He only had two doors other than the exit. One was a sliding door which screamed 'closet' while the other had a regular knob. He moved there to check out the bathroom.
Leaning over the small sink, Kit examined his neck in the mirror on the medicine cabinet.
A white oval was visible even against his pale skin---and Kit had never seen it before which meant he was either genuinely hallucinating or the woman he'd had amazing s*x with just bit him then healed him by licking the wound with her tongue.
"I really wish I had read that stupid vampire-werewolf-love-book."
He didn't have any clothes to change into so he focused on wiping himself off where he could. There was a bar of plain soap on the sink and a small hand towel hanging beside the medicine cabinet. Kit soaped his hands and cleaned under his arms, across his chest, and down his belly before scrubbing his groin without looking at it---just in case.
Did women actually bleed when they had s*x the first time?
Kit thought 'virgin blood' was some kind of rumor made up for bad romance novels. He had never been with a virgin before and he'd never taken any kind of anatomy class. All his studies in school had been focused on teaching. There'd never been a time when Kit had questioned what he wanted to do with his future.
Some boys grew up wanting to play cowboys-and-indians; Kit had grown up teaching his stuffed animals in his private school.
When he was satisfied with how clean he'd gotten, he dried off with the hand towel and went back to the bedroom. The clothes Janus had discarded remained in a pile on the floor. Kit picked them up to fold them even though he thought they were a total loss.
Tossing the clothes onto the dresser, Kit looked around to try to find something else to do with himself. All there was in the room other than himself and the bedroom set were some rugs on the floor. He went to the side table and checked the one drawer to find it completely empty. At least in a hotel, there would have been a bible in there or some kind of guest book to read.
Kit went to the door only to have it opened in his face and Sarcastic Guy -Jordan, he reminded himself- stood there looking at him like he was the one who was likely to bite at any minute.
"The Alpha wants you. Are you okay to walk to her room?"
"Am I okay? Yes. Should I not be okay? Why?"
Jordan rolled his eyes, "Nevermind. Just follow me and try not to upset yourself or anyone else. No talking to strangers! That's a thing you should know about, right? I never can tell with un-wolves."
"I teach 'stranger danger' to my kids so yeah, I can avoid talking to strangers on the walk to her room. I'm just moving from one room to another. How hard can it be?"
"It's not hard as much as it's---you'll see. Just follow me and don't fall behind."
Kit wanted to ask another question, but Jordan was walking away and he had to scramble to follow him.
Only a few steps later, Kit realized what Jordan may have meant only to realize he needed to keep his mouth shut because he wasn't in Kansas anymore.
