I slipped into the driver’s seat, feeling the familiar comfort of the leather beneath me. Nora settled comfortably beside me, her presence a constant, calming influence. Ashley climbed into the back, her expression a mix of regret and apprehension. As soon as the doors shut, I turned to face her, my eyes narrowing in the rearview mirror.
“Ashley,” I began, my voice stern, “what were you thinking back there? You almost compromised our position at the meeting.”
