RIC'S IDENTITY

Chapter 9 Ric's pov Sitting down with Lord Kai and Lord Jaruk, I listened to what they had to say about the lycan throne. From afar, I admired that throne. I was supposed to be seated there, not Lucan. His days are numbered. I'll make him regret ever accepting to be crowned. I'll use his mate against him and make him feel what it's like to be broken. "Lucan is a wise king," I heard Lord Kai say as he hit his rod on the ground... a typical old man. Wise king? Does he know I'm here?! "I was thinking Trisha would do a perfect job for us, but she's enjoying the privilege of being a lycan's betrothed, forgetting her duty." A reasonable talk right there. "She's trying her very best, Jaruk," Lord Kai said in the solemn tone of a father. "Well, her very best ain't enough!!!" I yelled, turning their attention to me. I stood and walked to them. Standing before them, I studied their faces. Panic was evident as they trembled under their coats. "First, Lucan is no wise king, and the earlier you get that into your numb skulls, the better for us!" "I watched him slaughter my father like a piece of meat. I watched him do what he's best at—with no remorse!" "His so-called 'decades!' father wiped my kind from the surface of the earth! He led the battle against us! Against us, the Fae!!" "You! And you! Stand here and call the killer of your kind wise?!" "Lucan has to go down, even if it costs the last drop of my blood." A pregnant silence ensued. I wasn't going to sit by and watch Lucan enjoy a mate bond and the crown. He’ll lose everything—broken and alone. "Now listen—his mate will be the game." I saw them look at me as though I had gone insane. "All you have to do is watch me… be at my beck and call when you're needed." "I shall return to the palace to avoid suspicions." I looked at them again and turned to leave. "Trisha is doing nothing, and I heard she's no Fae. Perhaps you got a werewolf pregnant who birthed Trisha for you." I looked at Kai and watched him tremble more. "You're going scot-free because you, Kai, are a Fae—a silver-haired dragon whose wings have been clipped. But if your daughter takes one wrong step, I'll end her myself." With that, I left them. --- I entered the long passageway to Lucan's mate's room. Jerry was standing when I got to her door. He bowed and still refused to open the door. He's sure going to be my first slave… just you wait until I become king. "Get Bianca to come to the training ground." "Lady Trisha summoned her. She's not inside." My ears perked up. Trisha? That surely isn’t good news. She had better not act funny. "Why did you let her go?" I watched him compose himself. "She insisted, and Lady Trisha said the king approved." The king… that lycan. "She's meant to be at the training ground for her training, not going around the park. She has a purpose here." He remained silent. "Fetch her wherever she is… it’s time to exercise her little wolf." With that, I walked away. --- Lucan's pov I stood at the balcony of my room as I watched Trisha and my mate walk around the garden, their maids trailing behind. From here, I could hear every bit of their discussion. "I heard you're Lycan Lucan's mate," Trisha asked as she plucked a rose, inserting it into her hair… it made her ugly. I watched her go silent at the question. A part of me wanted her to say yes but... "It's a processing something." I chuckled. Such a detailed answer. I watched as Trisha's face twisted. "I was betrothed to him before you came into the picture. Moreover, you're just a weak omega." She stopped, and the rest followed. There it was—unidentified authority. "I wasn’t supposed to come on this walk with you, but you literally begged me. Don’t let me regret it." "How dare you!" "Was that why I'm here?" She turned to Trisha calmly, as if she hadn’t just triggered her. Women do like trouble. "Stay away from the lycan. He's mine. He’s always been." I watched her fold her arms under her chest. "Aren’t you ashamed? Claiming a man who already has a mate? I think the best way to relieve yourself of the shame that’s coming to you is by going out there and finding your own mate—because I don’t share. Read my lips: I DON’T SHARE!" "And if you think it's because I'm a weak omega… just you watch. I'll surprise you. Because this omega right here, mated to a lycan, will overpower you in many ways." Trisha was enraged. I could feel the blood pumping with fury through her veins. "I hate that you're here. I hate that I have to fight you… damnit!" she yelled. "Oh, here you are," I turned to the voice. Jerry, her personal guard I assigned to her. She smiled as she walked to them. She smiled? She's not supposed to smile at anyone except me. Realizing myself, I came to a conclusion—I was going to summon the park’s seer. This is not how I pictured myself over this mate s**t. I shifted from the angle. Out of the corner of my eye, I watched them leave, Trisha fuming as she also left with her maids. --- Bianca's pov "The beta was not really pleased with your walk with Trisha," Jerry said as we made our way to the training ground. "I know. I thought of the training, but the idea of walking and getting to know the palace a little better didn’t seem so bad." Jerry stared at me and chuckled. "Just be careful. Sometimes the beta can be just like the king when he’s enraged." "Well, thank you for your concern." We got there, and I took a bow and arrow. This would be my first time holding it. I’ve admired the hunters who take it for hunting. "Drop that… and shift. We’re going for a run—a wood run."
