Chapter 8: The Plan

1868 Words
I'm trying not to panic, or give Annie any reason to go back upstairs to the kitchen. I know that right now we are in the safest place...which reminds me of a place we go once a year. Across the stream I had built an underground, sound proof, two bedroom bunker away from home. Being smart in the case of emergency I built tunnels leading from behind our closets to the bunker, making sure to go low enough under the stream  Every year after puberty hits a wolf will go through a haze period. This period only last one week, but it's the prime time for mating. The haze is like being so turned on that it physically hurts, and the only way to escape the pain is relieving s****l tension. Conveniently, when I was in a pack, a month before the haze was a traditional Mating Ball. This ball took place at the Blue Moon Pack in their humongous ballroom that could fit well over a million guests. The Mating Ball is were every pack that is in good with the alpha is invited but only the wolves that are mateless could attend. Unfortunately, Annie and I had to suffer for years. Which is why I'm planning on letting her go out and explore the world and hopefully she'll find her mate in the process.      Annie kept staring at her bracelet paying no attention to the movie she put on. "Annie everything is gonna be alright." I say to her stroking her hair, trying to calm her down. "It's him isn't it?" She asks finally looking away from her bracelet, "yes it is." I sighed and continued to stroke her hair. "Annie, you know the deodorant I make? It helps to keep our scent hidden from everyone, including your father. That's why I made sure to teach you how to make it." I said trying to ease her more, "what if it doesn't work? Why didn't you just reject him? Why didn't he reject you?" Annie asks twisting her whole body to face me.      "Good questions, well if it didn't work your father would have already been here by now. I've also experimented it on humans. Us werewolves smell like wet dogs to them, which is how I perfected the formula. Also brings me to the point of hunters. Hunters are humans that kill or experiment on werewolves and vampires. So when you are around humans be sure that your jewelry looks silver. As to why I didn't reject your father, I wasn't thinking about it. Honestly if I had rejected him, it wouldn't have changed a thing cause he still would have had to accept my rejection. Which I know he'd never do. As for him not rejecting me. After he got what he wanted out of me, he threw me into a river in hopes that I'd die." I sighed at her, I swear we had gone over the topic of her father a million times. Looking over at the clock above the Tv, it reads 3:00 pm on the dot. I took a deep breath in and turned my attention back to Annie's bracelet the sapphire had changed again to a lighter shade of blue. Upon seeing this I exhaled and sighed in relief.      "Why don't you try putting your dress on?" I ask Annie, picking up her dress and handing it off to her. "Try creating an outfit." I smiled at her, as she took the dress "okay!" she squealed and ran down stairs. While she's down stairs I went up stairs to the kitchen with our empty plates and milk glasses. Although, I still felt like he's still near I disregarded the feeling. Before I could put the dishes away I had to turn on the light. I might know my house well but I don't trust myself not to break anything by accident. I chuckle to myself at my ridiculousness, but as I bent over to put the dishes in the sink I caught a whiff of him. I immediately mind link with Annie, "Annie, what is the color of the sapphire? Do NOT say anything out loud."  As i'm waiting for Annie to reply I'm pacing the kitchen, my mates smell is getting stronger. I'm second guessing the deodorant, maybe the my scent is too strong to be masked. Especially to my mate, I hope I'm wrong. "Annie, you're taking too long to reply." I'm getting extra worried now. Okay, okay, first things first. I need to protect myself and Annie. Maybe I should have gotten her a weapon for her birthday. "The sapphire is a deep blue almost black. Do you know if the dress could be made into a romper?" Annie asks me, "probably, I think your dad is here... Annie if anything happens to me know that I love you." As I tell Annie this I grabbed one of the assortment of knives next to the stove.     "I love you too mom. Why don't we just go to the bunker? There is still time, we could hide from him." Annie replies to me "I've been hiding away from him for years, Annie. I can't keep living like this. Why don't you go to the bunker? When everything is over I'll come get you." I offered her, but Annie being a stubborn girl she refused to leave me. "We'll get rid of them together. I'm on my way up." As I got Annie's message I immediately hear her footsteps going slowly up the stairs. While waiting for Annie to come to the kitchen, I go to the door that opens to the outside. I pushed the leaves that hid the peephole very slightly, my breathing became shaky, and I looked out the peephole. Five wolves paced in front of the door, s**t. Okay, lets think... molotov?     "Hey Annie, how do you feel about moving?" I ask her in the mind link, while pulling out a bottle of whisky from the cupboard above the refrigerator. "I don't know, I kinda enjoy living here....Where would we move to?" Annie asks, she's so excited I could feel it. "Annie, what's taking you so long?" I ask her feeling frustrated while examining the remains of whisky. This is good whisky, an it's more than half a bottle left. Maybe one swig won't hurt, and I do so. "Annie!" I used my authoritative voice, "I had to turn off the Tv and everything in the living room. jeez." Annie replied, coming up the last step her eyes widen. "What is it?" I ask her as I pulled out old glass soda bottles and poured until each bottle was half full. "I think you've lost it? You realize you could burn the forest down easily?!?!?" Annie sternly speaks to me in our link, what Annie doesn't know is that I've started farming around the house so secret sprinklers will act as a barrier so the fire won't spread. Honestly the sprinklers covers at least five feet up the trees bark, so it should be okay. Right? "No, the forest will be fine." I tell her as I go through another drawer pulling out 4 washcloths.      "Annie, can you get two lighters from the living room? Don't take too long this time." I say to her as I'm stuffing the washcloth into the bottles, most of the cloth in the bottle with a little outside it to light. Annie looks at me in disbelief but storms off down stairs. "So, the plan is you are gonna go change out of the dress and shoes. You can make them shrink and put it in your locket. Put on clothes you aren't gonna miss if we have to shift. We are gonna run away from the house. There are five wolves pacing outside the house. We are gonna run for the bunker, running through the five wolves, and I'm going to throw the first lit molotov at them. If at any point I get caught you are NOT at any circumstance to come back and get me. You are to run far far away, and don't look back." Before I was finished telling Annie my plan, she was already back in the kitchen with me in a different outfit. Annie now wears athletic shorts and a tank top, while still wearing her new jewelry. Annie extends her right hand out to be revealing 2 lighters, "here." she says with a sad smile. "I'm taking one I want you to keep the other, and here take this. Just in case, okay?" I returned her sad smile while giving her one of the molotovs.     Annie stuffs the lighter in her bra, tears are streaming down her face. I quickly pull her into a hug, tears streaming down my own face. "I love you, baby girl." I tell her, stroking her hair and sobbing uncontrollably. "I love you too, ma ma." Annie buries her face into my chest sobbing, "we'll make it. We are gonna kill him." Annie tells me. We held each other for a little while longer, until I had to break out of the hug. Lifting up her head with my left hand so I could look at her, "stick to the plan. Okay, baby?" another round of tears come streaming down her face and I wipe them away. "Okay." Annie replies sounding weak and feeble. "Be strong! We'll be okay if we stick to the plan." I say to her and she nods, straightening her shoulders, making away to the kitchen knives and grabbing one. Without drawing the attention of Annie I went under the sink and turned the lever to the spicket on, which would turn on the sprinklers.     "Alright, lets go!" I say to her, moving the knife to my pant loop, one molotov just hits my butt pocket, and having my lighter in my left hand and molotov in my right hand to through when lit. Annie carried her molotov in her left hand and the knife in her right, coming up to my right side we are both facing the door. "I go through first and you right behind me. On the count of Three." Hearing me Annie joins in on the count down, "Three...Two...One." Annie and I came bursting through the door, startling the five pacing wolves. Annie and I kept running past them, and just when I saw them huddling together I lit the molotov and threw it at them catching not only them but the door to my house on fire. Before I could turn to look back at Annie a gray blurr knocks the wind out of me. My vision had become blurry and my breaths comes out in wheezes. Then, the gray blurr mind linked with me "we meet again, mate." his deep voice sent unwelcomed shivers down my spine and his scent fills my nose. He moves himself on top of me making sure I couldn't leave him, little did he know I grabbed the knife from my belt loop and I angled the blade stabbed him under his left rib cage and dragged the blade to the left. Without a doubt he WILL die today.
